My self-summary
Here's the short version: my friends say I'm intelligent, quirky, and fun. A modern American gentleman with a caring, loyal, and old soul. A history enthusiast and published local author, I'm a self-described New Deal liberal . . . just like the Roosevelts (that's them in the first picture: Eleanor on the left, Franklin on the right).

I've never been good at talking about myself on online profiles. Perhaps because I'm modest and sometimes shy. So here goes..Others have described me as being extroverted, but I rather believe that I'm more socially extroverted but more personally introverted; if that makes any sense at all. Although Myers-Briggs pegs me as ENTP - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving: The Visionary (Extraverted Intuition with Introverted Thinking).

If I were to choose two words to describe myself they would be authentic and adventurous. I love to learn about pretty much everything and love to share my interests and have others share what they are interested in with me. Life should be a grand adventure and we should explore it!

I'm very passionate (or at least try to be) about life. I love history, film, travel, new technology, food (both cooking and dining out), art, theater, music, and wine...just to name a few.

I'm very lucky to have a loving family, a wonderful dog and great friends. Also lucky to have a good job during the day and rewarding non-profit work outside of work.
What I’m doing with my life
My full time job is communications in state government.

In my free time I'm a historian, tour guide, and write local history books (just finished my fourth book on historic hotels).
I’m really good at
Using the Oxford comma.

Hahah. I've never been good about bragging about myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
My brown eyes, thick (and sometimes curly and wavy) hair, and kind smile. :-)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies & TV
Not ranked in any order:
James Bond, Star Trek, Star Wars, Mission: Impossible (TV), Green Hornet (TV), The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Ripper Street, Downton Abbey, The Newsroom, Sherlock, The West Wing, The Tudors, Kings, Indiana Jones, The Americans, The Walking Dead, The Blacklist

I love to read or listen to (I love the Audible app) spy thrillers, mysteries, Star Wars, history and biographies. Usually read three books at a time; like to balance between fiction and nonfiction. My all time favorite fiction books are The Art of Racing in the Rain, Devil in the White City, Star Wars: The Thrawn Triology, and Tuesdays With Morrie

Ian Fleming, John le Carré, David Ignatius, Vince Flynn, Jeffrey Archer, William Boyd, Michael Connelly, Christopher Rice, Alex Berensen, Jeffery Deaver, Garth Stein, Timothy Zahn, Erik Larson, David McCullough, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Robert K. Murray, Mark Twain

Computer and Video Games
TIE Fighter, Gabriel Knight series, Broken Sword series, Phantasmagoria, Star Trek: Judgment Rites, Blade Runner
Also an Xbox 360 and PS3 addict with favorite games:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Bioshock series, Mass Effect series, Dishonored, Fallout, Dead Island, Max Payne 3, MW3, Uncharted series, Last of Us

My all time favorite musical is Les Miserable. I've seen it several times in London. It's a classic!

Love all kinds of food especially: seafood, Indian, Vietnamese, French and Italian. I very much enjoy exploring different kinds of wine and pairing them. Enjoy both dining out and cooking at home with a cookbook.

Music & Radio
First off, I listen to NPR and BBC religiously several times a day. It's my zen. I'm very eclectic when it comes to music. I could be listening to alt rock and emo and then switch to big band and then switch to Chopin, Liszt, Bach and Gershwin. Jack's Mannequin is by far my favorite band (Andrew McMahon is a modern day poet of Bob Dylan caliber and quality). I've listened to him in awe since the band Something Corporate. Incredible artist!
Six things I could never do without
Not in any order:

Friends & Family
My dog
Video and computer games
Books & movies
Indian food

...okay that's more than six ;-)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next adventure.

Also think about:
Where should I be going? What am I meant to be doing? How can I help make our world a better place?

Also regularly study the lives of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Theodore Roosevelt. Such inspiring and interesting people that led extraordinary lives that shaped America (and the world) for future generations! Lots to learn and discover.
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking for friends, going out to dinner, or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
After constantly being nagged by my mom to create a dating profile and her repeated inquires of my nonexistent love life, I've decided to sign up.

The profile questionnaire on here is like the Spanish Inquisition! AND I can't seem to find the box to check: "match me up with a British Aristocrat." Bloody hell! (This is meant to showcase my quirky sense of humor)
You should message me if
What am I looking for in that special someone? I'm looking for someone to go on an adventure with, good times and bad. To challenge each other, learn from each other, and share interests and explore new ones together. Someone who is willing to jump and take a leap of faith to build something really meaningful and special.

You should message me if this sounds like something you are looking for. :-)
