My self-summary
I spent the past 2 and a half years in the Monterey area completing two grad programs and am now back in SB hanging out with my family for a bit, letting the dust settle, so to speak.

...Born and raised in SB California, I went to Portland OR for undergrad and have moved around quite a bit. Before moving to Monterey for grad school, I was in India doing research. Before that I was working out at the Channel Islands National Park.

I love the ocean, surfing, snowboarding, yoga, awesome hats, laughing with my friends, live music, dancing, dancing, dancing, long walks in the rain, big cups of tea, being cozy, big fires, sickle moons, metaphysics, interesting conversations....did you know that bees can see ultraviolet? ;) I am a trained yoga teacher and still studying yoga... I am a very curious person and love learning about most things. I am generally busy around the clock, but I value making time for worthwhile things and always love meeting new and interesting folk.

Furthermore, there have been many recent mountain lion sightings in some of my favorite places to hike, so I am trying to do less hiking alone and more "buddy" hiking :-) That is where you come in!
What I’m doing with my life
At the moment, two MA programs are taking up most of time, but I like to thing that I am simply living my life, day in and day out, figuring it all out, Leo, the Late Bloomer (one of my favorite kids books)

;) I am loving it, learning from it and deeply breathing it all in.
I’m really good at
I'm a pretty good dancer and I make excellent hummus ;p

Of late I have been teaching myself more of the ancient arts of fermentation.
The first things people usually notice about me
"Your striking facial features..." Really? I suppose... I am half Russian.

Honestly, I have no idea.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books? that will be a long conversation, (some essentials though: Jitterbug Perfume. Desert Solitare. The Fifth Sacred Thing. The Four agreements. Shantaram. Paulo Coelho. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The Artists Way. A Natural History of the Senses. Vonnegut. ..there are SO many more, harrrrd question.

Movies: Dirty Dancing (and yes, you have to like this movie, too) Generally speaking, I am more into films made in the Spanish speaking world, so chances are, if it is in Spanish, I have a greater chance of liking it...

Music... I love amerigrass/folk/blues/bluegrass/thought provoking hip hop/booty bouncing rooty stomping dub wamp/FUNK/brassy new orleans shit. oh, and random rab/edm
The six things I could never do without
my feet
purple cabbage
yoga/dancing/live music
the ocean
and, let's be honest, probably hats.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Design thinking/conflict resolution/development critique/conservation/human nature relationship/resource management/ relationship to place/what motivates human behavior and other related ponderings.

The mysteries of existence. Optimizing time spent thinking, thinking less. The "whys." Tea. The book that I am reading. People. Plants. Food Systems. What I want from life/the future. The nervous system/the brain (I am fascinated).
On a typical Friday night I am
At my favorite yoga class. then home to read/cook/movie/art project/sleep... or out to see music/hang with friends, depending on what I feel like...

Hopefully not doing homework, but I would be lying if I said that it never happens ;-)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I just started taking cello it might be a good ten years before I sound good, but I am excited :)
