About moi: Adventurous, artsy, literary, kinetic, in good shape, highly exploratory, non-dramatic.
Likes to make things, and wish I had more space to do so at home (circular saw and latex paint IN the apartment, holy mess batman).
Propensity to climb things.
My life is about experience, good or bad, melancholy or elated, thinking that "this one might kill me" or awed by unexpected beauty, and finding a way to have a sense of humor about all of it. Your life is the stories you have to tell, and I'm hell bent on having some good ones.
I love the outdoors. It's the closest thing I have to a religion. , skier, snowboarder, climber, and mtn biker. I've hiked Everest Base Camp, biked through the deserts, climbed a 19,000 ft glacier in an ice storm, gotten lost in the jungle for 12 hours, sailed a sunfish into open ocean (and flipped it after narrowly avoiding a collision with a giant ferry, yikes!). This is important because these crazy activities often shape my free time and I'd like to meet someone who has at least some similar interests.
I think I am different than "most girls" for whatever that's worth.
Here's the 'Why' (and you can skip this part if you don't give a rat's ass why I'm here) - I have always had boyfriends, from the age of 17 to the age of 29, four serious relationships to be exact, without much time in between. After moving back to NYC a couple years ago. I found myself single for the first time, ever. This was FUN for about a year, but now I'm pretty over it ("one night stands" get damn boring, quick), and I am ready for a relationship of some sort.
I am on this site because Recently I've found it rare that I get to know guys who meet 3 seemingly simple criteria: I like you, I want to make out with you, and you are not married or otherwise unavailable. So, voila, here I am.
Wobbling along the line between responsible spontaneity and utter recklessness. There is a Rumi quote I like that goes: "Searching for truth, the sage and the lunatic unite." So, I guess I'm somewhere on that spectrum.
Also, I like to push my own boundries, mentally and physically, and I really enjoy similar people. People who have an innate curiosity, who really look and listen, and like to test themselves.
Trying new things, and by that I don't mean the new restaurant around the corner (though that is nice too), but let's jump into the deep end and see if we float... or swim... or whatever....
This is so beautiful, and is what I strive for: http://www.independ.net/directors/mickey-smith/
Rolling cigarettes (I don't actually smoke, old skill).
Self depricating humor and/or making fun of you.
Awkwardly stuttering while trying to make fun of you, thereby turning the tables on myself (see previous entry).
I'm also pretty good at relating to people on their level. I can get along pretty well with anyone if I want/need to, which I'm finding more and more to be a valuable skill at work, and in life.
Update* At the moment they notice my raspy voice. I had a surfing mishap in summer 2013, and now I have a somewhat deep and husky Tom Waits lilt (or maybe that's the opposite of a lilt?)
Love good movies when my attention span allows, and listen to lots of different stuff, from indie rock, to old country and blues, to hip-hop.
Food. Likes everything, eats healthy (but with a devastating sweet tooth), and will try anything once (this applies to things beyond foodstuffs also)...unless it's still alive.... That would be a deal breaker.
Har Har, just kidding!!! (and if you didn't bat an eye back there, we probably would not work out)
I could do without most things, but prefer:
Music that gives you chills
That first roll around in bed after waking up, and the subsequent 5 minutes of falling back asleep.
How many calories were in that giant cookie I just inhaled?
Followed by the game theory of human interaction...and...Can this be recycled?
Or, if you want to help me make one of THESE! (it works!).
OR if you wanna hear my weirdo, new Kathleen Turner voice in person...
