My self-summary
I don't really enjoy the words "self" and "summary" together. I think it is too much of a challenge. I'm intellectual, but not in the overly artsy, overly read kind of way. I enjoy pop culture, live music is life, politics and all sides of what is going on in the world. I read 10 books at once, usually because I forget to take them with me and buy new ones. My musical tastes are so varied, I wouldn't even know where to start. I enjoy conversation more than anything, and I love trying to make those around me think or laugh. Or laugh while I make them think about something off the wall.

My world is my family, my wonderful job, my kitties and surprising people with all my varied interests. Being from Pittsburgh, I have an inherent love for the Steelers. I love discussing (debating) politics and things of that nature. I usually disagree just because it is fun. I'm looking for more people in my life that appreciate that I'm smart and ridiculously silly :) Live music drives me, and I like all kinds of bands and music, and I have a long history of working with or for bands.

I am clever, snarky, and thoughtful
What I’m doing with my life
I just moved to Charlotte in April and work in Delivery Management in the UX department of a bank. I play fantasy football with some of the team (and I'm awful at it) and love laughing as much as I work. I lived in Charlotte in 1999-2001 and I'm starting over here after years in Atlanta.
I’m really good at
making people laugh, and hopefully not just AT me but also sometimes with me. I think I'm clever, and sometimes, I actually am. I'm definitely a problem solver!
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, my sense of humour, and the ridiculous things I know stuff about. Oh and I have a lot of tattoos. Upper arms and ankles mostly. I guess I should put that out there. I also truly love both college and NFL football and any big game is a big game to me. I've been convinced from time to time to see a hockey or basketball game - yet I still know too much about those sports also.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love almost all kinds of music. You name it, I have a favorite artist. I love everything from Coheed and Cambria to Death Cab for Cutie to Harry Connick Jr. to Steely Dan. I spent a lot of my 20s working for bands like 311, Incubus and 2 Skinnee J's. Doesn't matter if you know who they are - I learned a lot and loved it all! I don't get caught up with the buzz bands, but I've heard them all enough to have an intelligent argument as to why I think they are a flash in the pan ;)

I'm not a beer snob, but I do love good beer. I have a fondness for hops. Keep your hefeweizens to yourself, because I prefer any other kind of beer.

I love reading, and I am always interested in finding new books to read, while not being hung up on who the most popular author is this year. I love reading books on history and politics. I minored in WWII history just so I could read about it during my study time. I adore reading about politics or history or music. I used to study the music business like it is a science. I own more books than I've read, but its like a goal.

I had one of those movie-free childhoods, so people are always surprised at the movies I haven't seen. But, I really enjoy watching movies at home, especially independent movies that have really unique stories. I've also gotten into the habit of trying to see every movie nominated for an Oscar because many of them seem to be the most interesting, even if not the most popular box office-wise. Still, there are certain movies I can't resist when they are on television - Any Given Sunday, Down to You, Notting Hill - again, varied!

In the last few years, I've definitely expanded my palate. When I was challenged with 2 weeks in Beijing and Tokyo I had to eat a little more than my German/Western PA sensibility of meat and potatoes. I love mexican, Bangladeshi and sushi if I had to pick favorites.
Six things I could never do without
1. my family
2. music
3. my laptop
4. books
5. nights out with my friends
6. my faith
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My Niece and my Nephew. They are in Ohio and New Hampshire and are 1 and 2 - they do amazing things all the time. I also think about the next thing I should learn or read up on. I have one of those weird memories that allows me to quote any fact or stat I've ever read, and I'm always trying to expand that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Since I am new in Charlotte, I'm typically at home, catching up on some TV and letting my week go. And, wishing I knew of a good karaoke bar in Charlotte, and people who would meet me there.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, that seems like a difficult question.
You should message me if
You want to have a fun evening of the most diverse conversation you might ever have. There is a lot going on in here, I'm just waiting for someone else to appreciate that! Also, if you've ever muttered the sentence "Expo '86 sounds so amazing live on this Amsterdam recording - much better than the original album cut".
