My self-summary
I’m seriously considering adding another set of bookshelves because mine are too full.

Exercise feels great and keeps me healthy, so I run three times a week.

The depths of space and time capture my imagination like nothing else; I’m fascinated by astronomy and cosmology and I’m always curious about history as well as where we might go in the future.

I prefer doing things in person to participating from a distance, whether this means going to a hockey game instead of watching on TV, being at a concert instead of listening to music at home, or playing a game with my friends in the same room instead of online.

Ultimately, the most important thing for me is to have friends that I can share and discuss all of these experiences with.
What I’m doing with my life
Every week, I make time to play some games with my friends. Some of us meet every Wednesday night and play RPGs, card games, or board games. Recently, I’ve really enjoyed Pandemic and Sentinels of the Multiverse, but it’s hard to go wrong with Cards Against Humanity either. After we’re done with our game, we head to the bar for drinks, food, and time to socialize. I like to read and play lots of different games as I’d like to design my own someday.

I really like to visit new places. Since I no longer travel with my parents to business conferences all over the country like I did when I was a kid, I don’t get to travel quite as much as I used to. I’ve seen quite a bit of the U.S. and I’ve been to Canada and Costa Rica, but I’d really like to visit Europe and Asia and experience in person all the amazing historical sites I’ve only been able to read about before.
I’m really good at
Learning new things.

Reading, walking, and possibly even chewing gum at the same time.

Stringing words together to make a sentence that's both cogent and coherent.

Screaming loudly at the TV when I'm watching sports.

I'd dearly love to add snapping my fingers to this list, but that is one skill in which my reach exceeds my grasp.
The first things people usually notice about me
I probably have my nose in a book.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love reading and watching sci-fi and fantasy. I've got Iain M. Banks, Jim Butcher, George R.R. Martin, and Ursula K. LeGuin on my shelf and out of storage right now paired with things like The Lord of the Rings, The Departed, and Inception. I really want to buy the methylamine barrel special edition of Breaking Bad and I'll be depressed if the upcoming season turns out to be the end for Community.

Manchester Orchestra is the best band making music today. If Brand New would finally release a new album, maybe it could be a contest again. They put on the best live show I've ever seen, but I've had fun at Motion City Soundtrack, Gold Motel, I Can Make a Mess, and quite a few others as well. For something a little more local, my friends PHOX are pretty good too.

I love peppers. The rest of me sometimes disagrees. We're working our differences out.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting around a table or on a couch with my friends, playing a game or watching DVDs/Netflix. Maybe we'll order pizza; sometimes we'll have a beer or two as well.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was *this* close to winning the free trip to DC from the National Geography Bee back in middle school. The slight difference between Bering Sea and Barents Sea may haunt me forever.
You should message me if
You want to go explore somewhere.

You have a cool restaurant or new dish to try.

You'd like to play a game together.

You'd like to go see a show somewhere.

If you have anything interesting to talk about, I'm all ears.
