My self-summary
You ever get the sense that everyone around you is finished? That they're where they want to be and are just going through minor adjustments until they retire or die?

And part of you is kicking yourself for not being like them and for not having reached that sort of finish line?

And the other part of you is wondering if maybe you haven't reached it because when they decided to stop, you didn't? That you kept going?

That's kind of how I feel a lot of the time.

I'm not sure if I'm really slow or just a late bloomer. But I'm trying to get better, and that's not nothing.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a freelance senior software developer. I consult and do a lot of contract work, and I'm also building a tech startup which I'm super focused on right now. I love making things, and I want to start owning the things I make.

In the recent past I've volunteered for both Lollypop Farm and Red Cross Disaster Services, and I periodically mentor newer developers and students.
I’m really good at
Carefully aligning the candy bars in the grocery store checkout aisle while the person behind me looks at me weird.
The first things people usually notice about me
My stunning good looks, immediately followed by my remarkable humility.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This always feels like a trick question to me.

The things you like don't say very much about you. But the reasons why you like those things? Those reasons say a great deal.

Ask me some other time and I'll be happy to talk about the reasons why I like things that I like, and to find out why you like things that you like.
The six things I could never do without
Vowels.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything.

I'm a card carrying member of Overthinkers Anonymous, and I have a difficult time relaxing or sleeping.
On a typical Friday night I am
Staying in and doing my own thing, sitting in a coffeeshop working on my startup project, playing a board game, seeing a good movie, going to a museum, bookstore, or art show, or sitting on a pier and talking about glaciers.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think giraffes are weird, and the more I think about them, the weirder they get.
