My self-summary
I just finished my PhD in astrophysics, and I am currently trying to figure out where to go from here.

I have a ton of hobbies. I scuba dive and have my pilots license. I play a couple musical instruments, and I love music, though as I say below, I am in a bit of a transition on what I like lately. I have a few other hobbies here and there, but I am always open to trying new things.

I really love to travel, and I am lucky in that I have done a fair amount over the past few years. I have been to a dozen countries or so, and a bunch of states. I even spent some time at the South Pole!

If there is anything else you want to know, drop me a line. I am generally pretty open. I don't mind answering questions about myself, and I would love to meet some new people and have some fun!
What I’m doing with my life
I am just trying to live the best I can and enjoy life. I just finished school. I love to travel and have actually been to 6 of the 7 continents. I have many ideas for future travel that I hope I am able to make happen.
I’m really good at
Trying new things. I am open to new experiences. I am trying to live life to the fullest and experience everything out there.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't really know. I can be a little nerdy at times, but I try to keep that hidden long enough to get to know people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read, but I have been so busy lately, that I can't seem to really get into many books! I love fantasy and scifi books, but I mostly end up reading technical non-fiction type stuff. Some of my favorites include: The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man's Fear, Enders Game, the trilogies by Robin Hobb, etc...

I am pretty flexible on movies and TV. I am not a huge fan of comedies, but I can usually enjoy them if there is nothing else. I tend to lean more toward scifi or drama, I think. Some of my favorites are: The Big Lebowski, Hackers (I know, but serious it is the best 80's movie made in the 90's), The Godfather trilogy, Braveheart, Ghandi, Swing Kids, A Beautiful Mind, Gladiator, Goonies, Flight of the Navigator, Serenity, From Dusk til Dawn, The Lost Boys, and I could go on. I love the Firefly series and though I don't really want to admit it, I really enjoyed the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. I suppose I really like most of what Joss Whedon has done; I loved Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Also, Doctor Who, Battle Star Galactica, all of the Stargate series, The IT Crowd, Archer, and The Big Bang Theory. I am sure there is more, but that gets the big stuff.

Music is an area in which I am in transition. I like classical music and jazz, but I don't listen to them that much. I like techno/trance music sometimes. I like new age / ambient. On the right day, I might find some country I like. I generally don't like rap. I don't usually like much pop, but there is some out there that I do like. And all the other stuff is really hit and miss. My favorite seems to be movie sound tracks lately. I love James Horner's stuff. I love the BSG soundtrack, and many others. I also seem to be drawn to a type of music that I am not quite sure what to call. It is a minor keyed bluesy country mix. It shows up in stuff like Sons of Anarchy or True blood.

As for food. I am all over the board. I like most food. I especially like various Asian types. But, I am up to trying just about anything. I can be happy with something simple, but I know how to really appreciate fancy food as well.
