My self-summary
Update time: Taking a seasonal gig in Alaska this summer, so I probably shouldn't list myself as available/looking for anything right now beyond just hanging out or grabbing a bite to eat.

This is one of those things I find really impossible to fill out. How do you summarize yourself in a paragraph? I either feel like I'm saying far too little, or far too much. Grew up in Bay Area of California, spent time in the military (which I'm not proud of, I'm sorry if you don't like military guys, I don't either.) Got out and went to culinary school to do something I really enjoy. I'm not a 9-5 person, it's unlikely I ever will be. I know it's rough on the people I care about, but it's the reality of what I do, so I try to make as much time for people as I can when I'm not working.
What I’m doing with my life
Working towards owning my own business, but it's slow going, halfway to my goal. In the meantime, doing what I do best: cooking for a living. It's not glamorous, but I enjoy the craftsmanship of it. My current job has me working very late in the evenings, but I don't intend on staying that much longer. I'm always an evening worker...I despise working breakfast shifts, but I happily make breakfast for people I care about. I'm never without a job, been doing this long enough I never worry about unemployment - having a skill set like mine makes me feel valuable and needed wherever I end up, which is pretty nice, I just wish I made a little bit more money/worked for myself.

I try to get out and do things with my time off, but I don't know too many people up here (recently moved into the area from San Francisco) so sometimes I end up staying inside more than I should. I enjoy doing things like hiking, snowboarding, climbing in climbing gyms (I've never been to any real rocks), playing disc-golf, rafting, swimming, camping, grabbing a drink and eating in new restaurants, I don't like to go to the same places over and over.
I’m really good at
Cooking, I'm really good at desserts...everything except decorating cakes, really terrible at that. Listening, smiling, laughing, telling bad jokes, useless trivia, driving without any road-rage, keeping secrets, being kind, upholding promises, and procrastination.
The first things people usually notice about me
My tattoos (not nearly enough of them) and my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - I tend to read fiction novels, currently reading through the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. Favorite authors include Douglas Adams, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen King, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, C.S. Friedman.. I enjoy long series the most.

Movies - Just about anything, I'd incredibly hard to list out favorites because it's impossible for me to narrow down. Directors like Stanley Kubrick, Paul Thomas Anderson, Cohen Brothers, Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, earlier Tarantino..
I love goofy comedy just as much as I like musicals. Action movies less so...I prefer dialogue over explosions.

Shows - Almost any HBO series, Rome is one of my favorites, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Walking Dead. The TV I do watch are like the books I read...long series with a good story. I very much dislike reality TV.

Music - Almost anything. I shift what I'm listening to constantly. Some of my absolute favorites though: Mozart, Edith Piaf, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, Tool, They Might be Giants, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, the Ink Spots, RATM, Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Boyz II Men, Mumford and Sons, Carly Simon, Mastodon, Die Antwoord, Caravan Palace, Nekrogoblikon... the list goes on forever.

Food - Just about anything. I dislike tomatoes (it's a texture thing) and horseradish (gives me a bad headache just smelling it.) I've been eating a lot of sushi lately.
Six things I could never do without
Eating Meat
A really comfortable bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Food, recent episodes of shows/movies I've watched, books I'm reading, the meaning of life (or lack of), politics, the future, the past, money, time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, always work. I can't remember the last friday I've had off.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a pretty open book if asked, but for the purpose of this question I'd have to say: my knives skills aren't perfect, I cut a little strange. If Gordon Ramsey showed up in my kitchen he'd have something to say about it but I wouldn't care. Same goes for my typing, Mavis Beacon would scold me but I'm still really fast.
You should message me if
You're not the loud girl in the bar. If you're pleasant and you don't take life too seriously. It helps if you're an evening worker too, but isn't required.
