My self-summary
Havnt been on this in quite a while. No more Alaska summers. Doing well in a local gig I love. Lots of hours, lots of freedom to cook what I feel like, no need to be pretentious. Relaxed. Update should include mention of dog since I've last used this. Lil pitbull I love to death.

This is one of those things I find really impossible to fill out. How do you summarize yourself in a paragraph? I either feel like I'm saying far too little, or far too much. Grew up in Bay Area of California, spent time in the military (which I'm not proud of, I'm sorry if you don't like military guys, I don't either.) Got out and went to culinary school to do something I really enjoy. I'm not a 9-5 person, it's unlikely I ever will be. I know it's rough on the people I care about, but it's the reality of what I do, so I try to make as much time for people as I can when I'm not working.
What I’m doing with my life
Sous chef at a local place that appreciates me. Allowed to put on menu what I feel like. Little stress. No drama. No need to be the yelling chef. Working hard, and relaxing when I can. Feeling better about future plans than I ever have before.

I try to get out and do things with my time off, most of it spent with doggo these these. He deserves a pic here. I enjoy doing things like hiking, snowboarding, climbing in climbing gyms (I've never been to any real rocks), playing disc-golf, rafting, swimming, camping, going to standup, grabbing a drink (but not a big drinker) and eating in new restaurants (I'm waaaay behind up here), I don't like to go to the same places over and over. I don't smoke cigs but I do enjoy smoking weed. I love movies. I go to lots of them. I love music, but I never go to shows. I don't know why. I stay up way later than I should and don't get nearly enough sleep but I like having personal time away from work. Netflix is king during those hours. Naps on days off are amazing.
I’m really good at
Cooking, I'm really good at desserts...everything except decorating cakes, really terrible at that. Listening, smiling, laughing, telling bad jokes, useless trivia, driving without any road-rage, keeping secrets, being kind, upholding promises, and procrastination.
The first things people usually notice about me
My tattoos (not nearly enough of them) and my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - I tend to read fiction novels, currently reading through the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. Favorite authors include Douglas Adams, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen King, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, C.S. Friedman.. I enjoy long series the most. More audiobooks than ever these days. Just easier for driving to work.

Movies - Just about anything, I'd incredibly hard to list out favorites because it's impossible for me to narrow down. Directors like Stanley Kubrick, Paul Thomas Anderson, Cohen Brothers, Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, earlier Tarantino..
I love goofy comedy just as much as I like musicals. Action movies less so...I prefer dialogue over explosions.

Shows - Standup comedy, almost any HBO series, Rome is one of my favorites, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Walking Dead. Netflix series. Bob's Burgers, Rick and Morty, Southpark, Seinfeld, The Office.

Music - Almost anything. I shift what I'm listening to constantly. Taking off a list just because I feel like so much is excluded. Every decade, almost every genre. I have never been able to get into jazz. (teach me?) and I just can't stomach pop-country from the past 2 decades or so.

Food - Just about anything. I dislike tomatoes (it's a texture thing) and horseradish (gives me a bad headache just smelling it.) I've been eating a lot of sushi lately.

Podcats - this should be a section more people mention. I listen to Radiolab, Freakonomics, Sam Harris, Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Stuff You Should Know, The Nerdist, Dan Carlin, Lore, The Moth
Six things I could never do without
Eating Meat
A really comfortable bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Food, recent episodes of shows/movies I've watched, books I'm reading, the meaning of life (or lack of), politics, the future, the past, money, time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, always work. I can't remember the last friday I've had off.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a pretty open book if asked, but for the purpose of this question I'd have to say: my knives skills aren't perfect, I cut a little strange. If Gordon Ramsey showed up in my kitchen he'd have something to say about it but I wouldn't care. Same goes for my typing, Mavis Beacon would scold me but I'm still really fast.

Also: I wake up in middle of night thinking about the possibility I forgot to order enough eggs. Or cream. Or milk.
You should message me if
You're not the loud girl in the bar. If you're pleasant and you don't take life too seriously. It helps if you're an evening worker too, but isn't required.
