My self-summary
I am often described as saxy. If you're looking for sax, I am your man. Sax is something I enjoy almost anywhere, including my apartment or on the beach. Sax is enjoyable at any time of day, though it might annoy the neighbors if you do it too late. I will drive up to a few hours for good sax. I like to be paid for it but will provide sax for free also. Some might say I'm addicted to sax, but I just enjoy it a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
I get paid to do weird science. So that's pretty interesting. Otherwise I'm usually found annoying my neighbors with
saxophoning. I also try to exercise from time to time in order to offset all the carbs.
I’m really good at
I am pretty good at telling computers what to do. Obviously music is a big interest. But I don't like to brag. I am also good at being modest. I guess if I were really modest I wouldn't say this. Oh well. I am pretty good at downhill skiing. I have a fantastically great sense of humor (obviously). I am a decent cook. I get along with people pretty well, except if they annoy me a lot. I work well with others towards mutual goals. Okay, sorry, now this is starting to sound like a resume.
The first things people usually notice about me
This is a difficult question because it depends on the person. I have bright blue, laser beam eyes, so sometimes that gets a mention. Other times people notice my, uh, amazing sax skills or my rather interesting personality. Perhaps you can tell me what you notice if we meet and fill me in.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am a bookaholic. I recently acquired a Kindle which is now my preferred media for text ingestion. For awhile I was on a serious non-fiction kick concentrating on popular science, physics and the like. Carl Sagan, Brian Greene and Richard Dawkins are some of the more well known authors. More recently I have been reading Sci Fi and Fantasy short stories and novels. I also rather enjoy The Onion horoscopes section.

I love music of all kinds. Old funk and soul seems to hit a sweet spot, from the big names like James Brown to more obscure bands. There are also a number of local bands in this genre that I enjoy.

Jazz is also a big obsession, from which I take a lot of musical inspiration. I mostly enjoy 1950's and 60's small groups lead by, for instance, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. But I appreciate all eras in this genre.

Who doesn't like food? Lately I have been really into seafood: shrimp, oysters, tuna, scallops, hmmmm. Sorry ocean life. You taste too good. As far as broad categories, I like Japanese, Thai, Indian, and Italian. A plate of small tacos also hits the spot.
The six things I could never do without
neck piece
neck strap

Though I'm gonna be out of luck when the reed breaks.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
About how truly awesome and incredible I am, of course.
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to learn more jazz standards.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I admit something then it is no longer private. Okay, how about, I was arrested once in my wilder days.
You should message me if
I impose no prerequisites for message reception.
