My self-summary
I'm 29. I'm originally from LA but I currently live in Brooklyn. I love good stories. I'm generally pretty fun to be around, I can find the silver lining in any situation. I'm open-minded and always up for anything...I tend to overuse the ellipses as a form of punctuation.

Also, I own a lot of ties.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a film editor for mostly commercials and music videos.

You can see some of them here: www.jamaalparham.tumblr.com

I also dabble in other things here and there...I'm a general do-er of things.
I’m really good at
Picking the perfect restaurant, making Manhattans, striking up extraordinary conversations, and memorizing random facts about things that people never really think about.
The first things people usually notice about me
My glasses, my penchant for bow ties, and my sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love movies in general. CQ is probably my favorite of all time, though few people have actually seen it. Some of my other favorites are Being John Malkovich, La Moustache, Manhattan, Gimme Shelter, A Band Of Outsiders, The Prestige, Annie Hall, The Game, Wall-e, Two For The Road, The Limey, Y Tu Mama Tambien, The Apartment, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, A Woman is a Woman, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind and Contempt. Im usually up for any movie in which shit blows up or someone falls in unrequited love. Also, i think Speed Racer is one of the most underrated experimental films of our time.

Some of my favorite albums are "Is This It" by the Strokes, the Beatles' "White Album," "Mutations" by Beck and "Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Blackstar."

I like an album that won't let you stop listening until you get to the end.

The best concert I ever attended was Prince at Madison Square Garden on his Musicology tour.

I like music that makes you want to dance or anything that sounds good on a mixtape (I'm really really good at making mixtapes).

I'm also a bit of a TV junkie. Some of my favorite shows are: Community, Arrested Development, Californication, Friday Night Lights, Mad Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The West Wing, Chuck, House, The Wire, Terriers, Justified, The Shield, Louie, Archer, Sons of Anarchy (basically anything on FX) Veronica Mars, How I Met Your Mother and tons more...

I read voraciously. Some of my favorite books are City of Quartz by Mike Davis, Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein, If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him! by Sheldon B. Kopp, The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff, Love is a Mixtape by Rob Sheffield, The Futurological Congress by Sanislaw Lem, anything by Kurt Vonnegut or Chuck Klosterman and Watchmen by Alan Moore (the comic, not the movie).

My favorite food is a grilled cheese sandwich, sharp cheddar on sourdough, with cheese that has been melted into gooey perfection. A perfectly cooked grilled cheese is something that will always put a smile on my face.
Six things I could never do without
My family.
My friends.
My macbook air
My phone.
Ridiculous adventures.
Nike sneakers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
why I'm not at the beach, and the Lakers.
On a typical Friday night I am
going out. Scotch neat. Getting into typical Friday night shenanigans.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hate not knowing. It drives me crazy.

also, 'Come Away With Me' is one of my favorite albums
You should message me if
You're looking for someone have an adventure with... at the very least some charming conversations. Or message me if you just wanna kill some time on the internet.

Even better if you love the songs "Can You Stand The Rain" by New Edition and/or "All I Do Is Think Of You" by Troope.... great f'n tunes!
