My self-summary
Hi. I'm John - or Johnny if you prefer (most of my relatives do).

I'm on this site to meet someone for a long-term relationship. I'm not looking for booty-calls or hook-ups or whatever the kids call them these days. I genuinely hope to find a woman who I click with romantically and as people with shared interests, values, and priorities as well. I hope that woman is you :-).

A little bit more about me: I tutor at a non-profit organization working with adults who are studying to pass the G. E. D. exam. It's incredibly fulfilling and gives me a chance to meet a lot of great people. I've been tutoring for about 3 years now and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. :-)

I hope you read the rest of my profile and we have a chance to talk soon. Happy fishing! :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Tutoring, spending lots of time with family and friends, and generally just trying to be a good person.
I’m really good at
...basketball, trivia and gameshows, flirting, being a wise-ass, reading, writing, finding my way around when driving or traveling, holding down my end of a good conversation, getting myself and other people really excited about movies, making myself and my friends and family laugh, bowling, being empathetic, articulating myself, typing quickly, and spelling.
The first things people usually notice about me
My toned buttocks or my creamy white thighs ;-). More likely that I look a bit younger than I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS - I read a lot but rarely do I read novels. I read newspapers and lots of things associated with The Onion. I also read screenplays and books about movies. I just finished a book about the movies and directors of the 1970s called Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll Generation Saved Hollywood. It's quite fantastic!

(Though not technically reading, I love to do crossword puzzles as well.)

MOVIES - Watching movies is one of my greatest passions in life. A "few" of my all time favorites are Good Will Hunting, The Incredibles, The Goonies, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Jaws, Wayne's World, Caddyshack, The Jerk, Billy Madison, The Karate Kid, Michael Clayton, Kingpin, The Natural, Forrest Gump, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, The 40-Year-Old-Virgin, The Graduate, Total Recall, The Sound of Music, School of Rock, UHF, the original Star Wars movies, The Contender, Nothing But The Truth, Die Hard, Ace Ventura (the first one), Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and Searching For Bobby Fischer.

Some honorable mentions would be Alien, The Truman Show, Tommy Boy, Blade Runner, L.A. Confidential and Punch-Drunk Love. (I'm an EXTREMELY big fan of Paul Thomas Anderson; his new movie The Master looks very impressive; dark and probably a bit disturbing a la There Will Be Blood but impressive nonetheless).

Additions to the list of very good movies I've only recently seen would be Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, Sex Lies & Videotape, Safety Not Guaranteed, and Looper.

MUSIC - The majority of the CDs and downloaded music I have are from artists and bands from the 60s and 70s. I like a lot of classic rock and singer-songwriter stuff. James Taylor, Paul Simon, Elton John, Cat Stevens, The Doors, The Who, America, Billy Joel and The Beatles come to mind right now. Some of the more contemporary acts I like include Alanis Morissette, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, Hot Chip, and The Postal Service.

FOOD - I love going out to eat and trying new restaurants. I used to eat more fast food than I should but have recently begun eating A LOT healthier!

I love Italian, Thai, Mexican, and Chinese.

TELEVISION - Pawn Stars, Counting Cars, Family Guy, Jeopardy!, Seinfeld, Chicago sports, Brewers games, The Simpsons (seasons 1-7), The King of Queens, The Cosby Show, The Office, That '70s Show, Scrubs, Jimmy Fallon, any nature show, Nick at Nite & TV Land, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Gator Boys, Hell's Kitchen, Cash Cab, Wheel of Fortune, Conan O' Brien, Family Ties.
The six things I could never do without
Family & friends, movies, animals (I have a cat named Cleo), corrective eyewear, flirting, laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...love, family, work, friends, relationships, movies, beach volleyball, spirituality, mortality, animals, traveling, making new friends, finding a romantic partner, doing right by others. Bonus points if you can determine which of those is not an actual interest. It's not too hard. :-)
On a typical Friday night I am
...often at the movies or out to dinner or both - admittedly low-key stuff, but stuff I dig.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Like choose-y moms, I choose Jif!!!

Kidding aside, I'm an open book. I'll answer any question about anything. Ask away. :-)
You should message me if
...you're kind, you like to laugh, you enjoy intelligent/stimulating conversation, you're looking for a serious relationship, and/or something on this profile caught your attention in a good way. I hope to hear from you soon. :-)
