My self-summary
Trying to lead a physically, mentally and spiritually healthy life. Curious about why things are the way they are, definitely an abstract thinker. Always looking for an adventure, learning something new or seeing a new perspective. Looking to meet people for friendship and possibly more.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in physical therapy and enjoy my job at an outpatient clinic here in Tucson. Enjoy staying physically fit and mentally/spiritually centered. Use movement therapies like yoga along with meditation to keep me healthy, mindful, and compassionate. Just completed yoga teacher training school, figured it was time to teach after practicing for 15 years. Love to read, particularly about spirituality, personal growth, politics (I know, but hey what can I say), and economics; Beginning to find the time again to read for fun and curiosity, at last.....Enjoying living in Tucson.
I’m really good at
physical coordination of my body; feel best when I am moving in conscious, intentional ways like with yoga and swimming. Love to spend time outside playing, hiking, enjoying the sun. I think I have become a good listener and am fairly patient thanks to some of my mindful practices.
The first things people usually notice about me
An easy-going warm demeanor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Mary Oliver's poetry, any David Sedaris, books on yoga and buddhism, Michael Lewis' Boomerang, Malcolm Gladwells' Tipping Point.
Movies - Prefer indie films, humanistic stories; though once in a while hollywood still comes out with an entertaining flick.
Shows - Like live theater, musicals, live music! Love Hotel Congress, the Fox and Rialto theaters. Try not to spend too much time watching shows on Amazon Prime, but sometimes it is good to veg out and relax with some good escapist entertainment.
Music - Good music! Everything from classic rock, classical, R & B, Alt Rock, bluegrass, the blues! Good music is good music, regardless of the genre. Love the "All Songs Considered" Podcast from NPR.
Food - Like to try new types of food. Love Sushi, Thai, Italian. Prefer fresh, whole foods, lots of veggies, made with love.
Six things I could never do without
1. Mindfulness
2. Compassion, empathy
3. Healthy sense of humor to keep me from being too serious
4. Time and space to enjoy solitude
5. Feeling loved
6. Hope
7. Caffeine (just kidding, sort of)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Buddhist teachings of impermanence, no-self, and nirvana.
The increasing wealth and power of the oligarchy in this country, not to mention to widening gap between the wealthy and everyone else. Convinced that we live in a plutocracy that is rigged for the top 1-2%.
How I can earn a living without working so hard.
Truth and honesty in relationships.
Ways of moving my body that make me feel good.
The food and nutrients I put into my body.
On a typical Friday night I am
Honestly, usually like to relax at home after a long week of work. Sometimes I will get a second wind and join a friend for a happy hour cocktail.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I went through a celine dion phase when I was younger. I know, oh how I know!
You should message me if
You think I am cute or like what I have to say or ... you get the point.
