My self-summary
I am warm yet irreverent. Imaginative and curious. Funny and playful, even goofy at times. Very much into adventure. Laid-back. Open and open-minded. I am liberal and progressive, not conservative. I eat healthy foods, exercise, and live an active lifestyle. I'm very politically aware and interested, and know what's going on in the world. I'm fit and I look like my pictures.

Some things I love: music, movies, hiking, restaurants, biking, skiing, theater, museums, reading, writing, animals, and taking pictures. I love nature and the outdoors. I'm very distressed about the mess we're making of the world.

I have close friends from my whole life going back to childhood - wide variety of people. I think it's something I'm lucky in. I'm a social person.

I love traveling, and I'm long overdue for a nice trip. So I just planned one to Italy and Germany for this September. In the past I've traveled a lot around Europe, the US, and the Americas. A year in England during college, and a bunch of trips back since. Some beautiful bike trips, in France, Costa Rica, national parks.... A yoga ashram in the Bahamas last year (I'm not highly skilled at yoga, at all). I want to go to the Far East, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, South America, Berlin, Prague, and just escape occasionally to the Catskills forests.

I have two cats, sister and brother - I took them in long ago from a litter that needed homes, two because I thought one would get lonely. I love dogs too, and would be happy to have one. I also have a bunch of plants, because plants need homes too...
What I’m doing with my life
I've been living in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn for about 11 years. I was raised in a Jersey suburb outside New York City, which was far more like Dazed and Confused and Mean Girls than the Sopranos or Jersey Shore. I work in software, a very pleasant place to be that lets me enjoy life - but I'm not at all a tech junkie, never have been. (Was a lawyer before, intended to go into environmental law, practiced a few years, it wasn't for me - I'm still as environmental as ever though.) Financially comfortable & stable.

I write stuff down, anything that comes to mind - funny, psychological, historical, scientific, philosophical, poetic. I've been doing that since high school. I think writing is fun and self-inspiring. I'll jam it all in a novel or short stories one day, and I think it will be very popular. I also write down my dreams, whenever I can remember them. My brother and I have embarked on recorded interviews of my parents, about themselves and the 20th century. We're doing it for posterity, for the world...
I’m really good at
I have a good sense of humor, and a good sense of the absurd.
I'm good with words.
I'm pretty good at skiing.
I'm good at having conversations.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the sublime and the strange.

My first album, chosen in 2nd grade under the guidance of my older brother, was the White Album. I listened to it a million times, following the lyrics end to end. From there I've branched out to all different kinds of music today - too much to list, I won't bother listing bands. As for movies, I like independent, old, foreign, and once in a while a Hollywood comedy or superhero flick. If you want I'll send you my next 45 movies on Netflix to help you come to a decision about me. A few favorite recent-ish books are Kavalier and Clay, Oscar Wao, and The Secret History, and I love a lot of old ones too. I love to read. On TV - Portlandia, Jessica Jones, season 1 of True Detective, Game of Thrones (I have not yet watched the last season so please don't ruin it for me), and most recently Stranger Things.
The six things I could never do without
friends and family
great music, movies, books, art
something to write in
the outdoors
my bike
and of course love and affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
funny or interesting ways to describe things. the environment/the world's fate. beginnings and origins, and the evolution of things.
On a typical Friday night I am
out with friends shooting pool, eating, or taking in some culture. or staying in watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
more of a disclaimer than revelation of a secret:
the golf course pic of me is rare. i'm not a big golfer.
You should message me if
You're a woman who is laid-back, unpretentious, nice, imaginatively adventurous, uninhibited, open, and intelligent, with style mixed with grittiness. Or at least some of those. And if you want a serious long-term relationship.

I'd like to have kids, but I can also imagine having a great fulfilling life without kids, I suppose.
