My self-summary
Warm, irreverent, imaginative and curious, funny and playful, goofy, nerdy, adventurous. Laid-back. Open and open-minded. Progressive and liberal, not conservative. I love to learn. I eat healthy foods, exercise, live an active lifestyle, though I'm not obsessive about it. I'm fit and look like my pictures. I don't like to limit myself to "bro" culture - because it's kind of limited. I'm very politically aware and interested, and I'm very concerned about the mess we're making of the world. I went to the Women's March in DC, which was brilliant, and I'm hoping there's a march for the climate/environment, real soon.

I have close friends from my whole life going back to childhood - a wide variety of people. I think it's something I'm lucky in. I'm a social person.

I love traveling. I just got back from a trip in Italy and Germany. I've traveled a lot around Europe, the US, and the Americas. A year in England during college, and a bunch of trips back since. Some beautiful bike trips, in France, Costa Rica, national parks. A yoga ashram in the Bahamas (I'm not skilled at yoga). I want to go to the Far East, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, South America, Berlin, Prague, and just escape occasionally to the Catskills forests.

I have two cats, sister and brother - I took them in long ago, two so they have each other. I love dogs too, I'd be happy to have one. (I love animals.) I also have plants - they're nice, and plants need homes too.
What I’m doing with my life
I write down all the extraordinary things that pop into my head - funny, psychological, historical, philosophical, scientifical, poetical. Since high school I've been doing this. Writing is fun and self-inspiring. I'll make a novel or short stories of it, and people will find it fascinating. I also write down my dreams, whenever I can remember. My brother and I have embarked on recorded interviews of my parents, about themselves and the 20th century; we're doing it for posterity, for the world!

Living in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn 12 years now, raised in Jersey outside NYC. I work in software (though not a tech junkie, never have been) - it's a very pleasant place to be that lets me enjoy life. (I was a lawyer before, intended to go into environmental law, practiced a few years, found it wasn't for me - I'm still as environmental as ever though.) Financially comfortable & stable.

I'd be enjoying life more if I was off this site, happily forever together with the mysterious hidden woman whose fate is tied to mine.
I’m really good at
I have a good sense of humor, and a good sense of the absurd.
I'm good with words.
I'm pretty good at skiing.
I'm good at having conversations.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the sublime and the strange in all things.

I received extremely strong musical training from my old brother when I was a tiny little child. He instilled in me GOOD MUSICAL VALUES. So I had a lot of really good albums by the time I was 10 years old. I knew very important songs and lyrics by the age of 8. I have since branched out, always with quality as my lodestar. The last band to capture my heart was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (I don't get as much time as I'd like to listen to new music - I really think it would be nice to retire and listen to more new music and go to more music venues, and read more books, and go to more museums, and watch more movies and TV shows, and travel more and do more visiting of friends and family).

As for movies, I like independent, old, foreign, and once in a while a Hollywood superhero or comedy flick. If you want I'll send you my next 45 movies on Netflix.

I'm currently reading some old Sherlock Holmes and Frederick Douglass' autobiography. A few favorite recent-ish books are Kavalier and Clay, Oscar Wao, and The Goldfinch, and I love a lot of old ones too. I love to read.

On the TV, some recent favorites are Portlandia, Jessica Jones, season 1 of True Detective, Game of Thrones, and most recently Stranger Things, and Black Mirror. The Wire (not finished), Breaking Bad.

Food: I love food. I love a good restaurant. Who doesn't?
Six things I could never do without
- friends and family
- adventure and exploring, hiking cities, forests...
- great music, movies, books, art, museums, theater, live music
- something to read, and something to write in
- nature and the outdoors
- my bike (just got a new bike)
- love and affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
funny or interesting ways to describe things. the environment/the world's fate. beginnings and origins, and the evolution of things.
On a typical Friday night I am
out with friends shooting pool at one of the local bars, eating, or taking in some culture. or staying in watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i drink 3 large glasses of water every morning when I wake up. in the winter, hot water. keeps my cheeks rosy.

more of a disclaimer than revelation of a secret:
the golf course pic of me is rare. i'm not a big golfer.
You should message me if
You're a woman who is laid-back, unpretentious, imaginatively adventurous, uninhibited, open, and intelligent, with style mixed with grittiness. Or at least some of those. Eccentricities are completely welcome. Also helps if you want a serious long-term relationship.

I'd like to have kids, but I can also imagine having a fantastic fulfilling life without kids, I suppose.
