My self-summary
I think I'm warm but irreverent, imaginative and curious, funny and playful, even goofy at times, nerdy. Into adventure. Laid-back. Open and open-minded. I am liberal and progressive, not conservative. I eat healthy foods, exercise, and live an active lifestyle. I don't like to limit myself to "bro" culture - because it's kind of limited. I'm very politically aware and interested, and know what's going on in the world. I'm very concerned about the mess we're making of the world. I'm fit and I look like my pictures.

Some things I love: music, movies, biking (just got a nice new home-made road bike from my friend), hiking, restaurants, skiing, theater, museums, reading, writing, animals, and taking pictures. I love nature and the outdoors.

I have close friends from my whole life going back to childhood - a wide variety of people. I think it's something I'm lucky in. I'm a social person.

I love traveling, and just got back from a fantastic trip in Italy and Germany. In the past I've traveled a lot around Europe, the US, and the Americas. A year in England during college, and a bunch of trips back since. Some beautiful bike trips, in France, Costa Rica, national parks. A yoga ashram in the Bahamas (I'm not highly skilled at yoga, at all). I want to go to the Far East, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, South America, Berlin, Prague, and just escape occasionally to the Catskills forests.

I have two cats, sister and brother - I took them in long ago from a litter that needed homes, two because I thought one would get lonely. I love dogs too, and would be happy to have one. I also have a bunch of plants - they're nice, and plants need homes too...
What I’m doing with my life
I've been living in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn for about 11 years. I was raised in a Jersey suburb outside New York City, which was far more like Dazed and Confused and Mean Girls than the Sopranos or Jersey Shore. I work in software (though I'm not a tech junkie by nature, never have been) - it's a very pleasant place to be that lets me enjoy life. (I was a lawyer before, intended to go into environmental law, practiced a few years, it wasn't for me - I'm still as environmental as ever though.) Financially comfortable & stable.

I write stuff down, anything that comes to mind - funny, psychological, historical, philosophical, scientifical, poetical. I've been doing that since high school. I think writing is fun and self-inspiring. I believe I'll stuff it all into a novel or short stories one day, and I think people are gonna find it fascinating. I also write down my dreams, whenever I can remember them. My brother and I have embarked on recorded interviews of my parents, about themselves and the 20th century. We're doing it for posterity, for the world...

Full disclosure - I'd be enjoying life more if I was off this site, happily forever together with the mysterious hidden woman whose fate is tied to mine...
I’m really good at
I have a good sense of humor, and a good sense of the absurd.
I'm good with words.
I'm pretty good at skiing.
I'm good at having conversations.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the sublime and the strange in all things.

I received extremely strong musical training from my old brother when I was a tiny little child. He instilled in me GOOD MUSICAL VALUES. So I had a lot of really good albums by the time I was 10 years old. I knew very important songs and lyrics by the age of 8. Since then I've branched out, always with quality as my lodestar. The last band to capture my heart was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (I don't get as much time as I'd like to listen to new music - I think it would be really nice to retire and listen to more new music and go to more music venues, and read more books, and go to more museums, and watch more movies and TV shows, and travel more and do more visiting of friends and family).

As for movies, I like independent, old, foreign, and once in a while a Hollywood comedy or superhero flick. If you want I'll send you my next 45 movies on Netflix to help you decide about me.

A few favorite recent-ish books are Kavalier and Clay, Oscar Wao, and The Goldfinch, and I love a lot of old ones too. I love to read.

On TV, some recent favorites are Portlandia, Jessica Jones, season 1 of True Detective, Game of Thrones, and most recently Stranger Things.

Food: I love food.
The six things I could never do without
friends and family
adventure and exploring
great music, movies, books, art
something to write in
the outdoors
my bike
and of course love and affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
funny or interesting ways to describe things. the environment/the world's fate. beginnings and origins, and the evolution of things.
On a typical Friday night I am
out with friends shooting pool at one of the local bars, eating, or taking in some culture. or staying in watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
more of a disclaimer than revelation of a secret:
the golf course pic of me is rare. i'm not a big golfer.
You should message me if
You're a woman who is laid-back, unpretentious, nice, imaginatively adventurous, uninhibited, open, and intelligent, with style mixed with grittiness. Or at least some of those. Eccentricities are completely welcome. Also helps if you want a serious long-term relationship.

I'd like to have kids, but I can also imagine having a fantastic fulfilling life without kids, I suppose.
