My self-summary
Graduated from Northwestern with a degree in Theatre. Had fun acting in NYC for two years. Finishing up a degree in software engineering in the Fall. In Seattle for a summer internship making iOS apps.
What I’m doing with my life
All software development! All the time!

No but also reading and Netflix binging. Love discovering new good food too.
I’m really good at
Making really obscure associative connections to things that I think are TOTALLY on-topic but apparently are miles away.

In that vein, trivia. But also like playing the piano I guess. Singing, if you don't know how to sing and have low standards in what people sound like when they're singing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have really straight teeth as a result of wearing braces for about forever. One was literally sideways when I was in kindergarten, so anything was an improvement. Also my glasses. Probably beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: His Dark Materials Trilogy, The Time Traveler's Wife, The Great Gatsby, The Chronicles of Narnia, Saving Jesus From the Church, The Bell Jar, Blindness, THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER AND CLAY

Television: Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Always Sunny, Breaking Bad, Parks & Rec, The Wire, The West Wing, Arrested Development, Archer, House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, Transparent

Movies: A Mighty Wind, Gladiator, The Shawshank Redemption, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Return of the Jedi, Pan's Labyrinth, Hotel Rwanda, I Am Sam, A Beautiful Mind, In Bruges, Amelie

Music: (Artists: The Staves, Bob Dylan, Regina Spektor, Dar Williams, Arcade Fire, Ben Folds, Tallest Man on Earth, Jose Gonzalez, Joanna Newsom, Feist, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes) (Songs: "I'll Follow You Into the Dark" by Deathcab, "The Temptation of Adam" by Josh Ritter, "My Heart With You" by The Rescues)

Food: Japanese, Lava Cakes (if they're on the menu I get them, anywhere), Edzo's, Kuma's Corner, Jerry's Sandwiches, literally anything with avocados or capers but probably not both
The six things I could never do without
1. Pen / paper
2. This quote:

"I beg you, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

3. A computer
4. Piano
5. Friends
6. Family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Left-brain / right-brain shit, though I think I read an article saying it was all made up anyway. And when I say "read an article" I mean "a link came across my newsfeed with a surprisingly descriptive headline".

No but seriously, as someone who delved really deeply into theatre and now is diving pretty deeply into software -- these are very different modes of thought, at least in my brain, and I'm always curious if there's a common abstraction between the two or if they're just fundamentally different things. There are certainly links, for sure, but yeah. Something I think about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, it's a Friday night right now and I'm filling out this profile. So.

But generally going, you know, somewhere. Whiskey is good.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Never seen Casablanca? That's not private but it is deeply shameful.
You should message me if
You have a strong opinion on whether I should grow out a man bun. I was growing one out but couldn't make it through the awkward stages and got it cut into what I was told is a "modified pompadour", and looking back with regret is one of my favorite pastimes.

No but I'm in Seattle for the summer / maybe longer and am always looking for new things to do, so if you want to show me your favorite parts of the city, hit me up!
