My self-summary
Passionate, active, and fun-loving guy looking to meet good people in SF. Global citizen (Bali) and minimalist. UCLA undergrad / UCI grad. Relocated from Newport / Laguna Beach to the city. Ocean Beach. Believing in the powers of kindness, love & humor, I'm a hyperactive outdoorsy social. Communicate, do something meaningful, eat blueberries, exercise, and have a good time.
Born in Boston, and grew up in beautiful La Jolla. I am a very active, driven, adventurous, and caring person who leads with my heart. I believe that laughter and big smiles are essential, and am passionate about people, exercise, the ocean, nature, travel, great food, music, art, innovation, and good conversation! I am always up for a good hike at lake Sonoma, leisure tennis, racquetball, surfing, diving, or disco bowling. On a quest for meaningful relationships & ineffable experiences, and happily make that a priority over the pursuit of the material.
What I’m doing with my life
Living happiness through the ever delicate balance of family, love, work, and play. Exploring San Francisco and the wonderful Northern California outdoors / coast. Working. Working out. Playing. Surfing. Swimming. Diving. Spearfishing. Exploring a new passion for archery, hiking wilderness areas (i'm an aspiring urban woodsman). Having nerdy conversations even though I know I have a lot to learn. Staying up past my bedtime. Listening and asking questions when YOU need to talk through something. Playing chess or words with friends. Trying to be creative, playing the guitar & singing (I'm not that good), dancing like a fiend (with or without liquid courage), over-committing (so much in life to say "yes" to!). Productive procrastination. Back scratching and massages.
I’m really good at
Appreciating things and trying to make the best of all situations / relationships life throws our way. Accepting people for who they are. Self-awareness. Being unconventional and engergetic. Cooking. Planning adventures. Not sitting still.
The first things people usually notice about me
big thinking, big plans, big projects, big smile, big dimple, big shoulders, big heart, big love!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: I am a recovering nerd

movies: I like comedy, documentaries, and "reality". Anything provocative & interesting; real life with all its battle & beauty is more captivating/exciting for me than fiction.

shows: I love live music primarily, but shows of all types as long as I am in good company.

tv: Don't own one but watch on demand and at the gym: Suits, House of Lies, The Wire, Entourage, TED Talks, 60 minutes, WCT Surfing, Bachelorette, viral videos (and quite a few more guilty pleasures that I am slightly embarrassed to admit).

music: dotan, ry x, james taylor, norah jones, rolling stones, beatles, notorious big, pheonix, chromeo, circa survive, live jazz, reggae, def leppard, motley crue, guns, steel pulse, the dead, santana, rihanna, katy perry, tycho, nero, passion pit, jet, zeplin, pepper, ub40, andy mckee, minus the bear, saosin, nick drake, the darkness, daft punk, billy idol, shiny toy guns, kooks, metric, naked and famous, m83, the sea and cake, sublime, slighly stupid, the used, skrillex, kaskade, sweedish house mafia, steely dan .... on and on

food: LOVE TO COOK! I APPRECIATE MOST INFLUENCES AND NOTHING SCARES ME IN THE KITCHEN (especially enjoy thai, indian, and indonesian)
Six things I could never do without
SIX? OR MORE: Love, Friends & Family, Touch, Ocean, Sunscreen, A Beautiful & Intelligent Woman, Music, Fine wine, Fine Cheese, Coffee, Chocolate, Hops, Fresh Bread, Cooking, Juicing, Fresh Fish, Fresh Produce, Smoothies, Blueberries, Dancing, Art & Music, Sunsets, Memory Foam Mattress & Fan when I sleep, The Forest, Custom Surfboards, Archery, Diving/Spearfishing
I spend a lot of time thinking about

I also think about how our human condition, and this our world, are so beautiful, but strangely can't be helped from commingling in an unsustainable way. Why real intimate community and family culture is becoming a thing of the past. How to meet people, create meaningful relationships, and have the most fun despite all the madness out there. How to make wake (vs. taking wake) by staying proactive & productive in an existence becoming more & more reactive (and slave to Apple, Google, Facebook, and smartphone). Appreciating the epicenter of the technological universe here in SF; extreme innovation is/and some of the most amazing, gorgeous stuff ever. How we inhabit multiple truths: we're self-absorbed and collectively aware, fragmented and interdependent, getting wiser and ever-more frightened of truth & real social connection.
On a typical Friday night I am
being active (surfing, gym, tennis, bike ride, camping, archery range), or out on the town for a great meal with friends & good company (love the sf dating scene & culinary experience), chasing LIVE MUSIC, dancing. OR snuggling up with a focus on friends, family, loved ones, cooking, in-depth conversations, relaxation, movies & music, and quality time with others.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I lost both my parents to cancer while I was in college. It was a devastating blow but I am very excited about rebuilding my family with someone special. I have made my transition to the city and am thriving on the thrills of exploring a new scene. Some of my best friends from college live up here and i am really enjoying being close to them. Also, my sister and cutest niece and nephew ever live in Burlingame. I am loving life and the city of San Francisco. I work in real estate and manage vacation rentals & also multifamily development projects for an investment fund. I frequently travel the world.
You should message me if
I have been really invigorated by the depth of character of the new people I have met thus far in the city and am hungry for more ... please don't hesitate to say hello if you think we might click! also interested in activity partners for: innovation, romance, surfing, tennis, racquetball, archery, fitness, exploring, abalone diving, spearfishing, bow hunting. Always on the lookout for more inspiring human beings and kindred spirits. I'm drawn to people who move gracefully between different circles, who've carved out more than one identity for themselves; who cook together and then hang out in the kitchen long after the dishes are done; who dance at parties, sock-skate on hardwood floors, write like journalists and hug like they mean it; whose jobs aren't just jobs, who spend their time creating things because they love the world and what it could become. I am always striving to continue to be one of those people; excited to meet you if you are too.
