My self-summary
Grar, a blank canvas. Well, hmm, err... well, things are complicated in life, right? So I'm from London, have lived abroad, been an EFL teacher, a community organiser, a journalist and filmmaker, and now about to start work for a charity in East London. Usually I write stuff and make films and then sometimes someone goes 'oh hey, here's a pitifully small amount of money for your 6 months work'. Luckily money isn't everything, so if you prefer bike rides to cruising Mayfair in an obscenely expensive object which performs many of the same functions as a bicycle, then we might get on.

I'm really looking to meet people on here who I have a lot in common with who I wouldn't ordinarily get to meet. So if you're working for a human rights or development charity, cycle everywhere, are adventurous, intelligent, well travelled and cute, I especially want to hear from you. :)

I've never quite managed to make monogamy work for me, so I'm interested to explore non-monogamous relationships where everybody is honest with each other about the situation. It seems fairer and more reasonable than expecting someone to only ever sleep with one person forever. If you're poly I'd be interested to hear from you.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing, making films, making music, arguing on Twitter, lamenting the fact that humanity is probably going to destroy itself, then going to an old man pub to forget about the future and enjoy the present.
I’m really good at
I'm like, well good at making words using phonemes to construct sentences that make sense. See, I just did one.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I look like someone they can't quite put their finger on. Maybe young Kenneth Branagh. Dunno whether this is a good thing or not...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I find something I like in pretty much every music genre and I'm bad at making lists.

I did English at university and hated how much they pushed you towards marketing your writing skills for advertising or copywriting purposes. I like a lot of (post)modern fiction, like Auster, Murakami, Adiga, Delillo. But I'm not picky about chronology - Orwell, Blake, Pullman, Atwood, HS Thompson, JK O'Toole, Calvino, Swift, Koestler...

Mmmm, food. Japanese, Tapas, Korean, Thai, EGGS BENEDICT, MMMMM.. I see spicy things as a challenge.
The six things I could never do without
Pyramid of human needs contains more than six things. Internet comes first though because how would I forage for food without being able to geolocate the nearest mammoth.

Sometimes I regress to the neolithic man inside, albeit a very polite one with a full understanding of intersectionality.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Language, history, gender, love, sex, death, time and all the other difficult concepts. For a full list see Williams, R., Keywords, 1976, Fontana Press.
On a typical Friday night I am
Wherever the most relaxed and fun place that I have available is.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is something I tell to people, not the internet.
You should message me if
You're a charming misfit.
