My self-summary
A great philospher one said "know thyself" and that is easily my daily mantra. I have some others as well if you'd like to hear them.

I love having crazy in depth discussions on topics big and small. A constant theme is self improvement. Be it from figuring out how to make a better OkCupid profile to learning to shoot pool left handed. A quick way to get me interested in you is if you can teach me something. We all have something to share and I love to learn.

I'm not judgmental of those I don't know well, but towards my friends can be - it's because I care about them.

The most romantic thing I've ever done is send my girlfriend away to shop while I cleaned up the house to be spotless. Then, I went out, bought roses, champagne, chocolate, candles, bubble bath and incense. I setup the bedroom very nice with the candles and incense and sprinkled rose petals all over. When she arrived, I drew her a bubble bath with rose petals covering the water and brought her in. Candlelight only, with incense burning and classical music playing. I brought up an ice bucket and champagne and served her chocolate while I bathed her. I then had her shower off, and brought her to the bed, laid her down, and proceeded to give her an hour long massage. Afterwards, I covered her up, got in bed, and fell asleep with her.
What I’m doing with my life
I took a trip around the world in 2008, starting in New Zealand and ending in Sweden, hitting 20 other countries on the way. I have a travel blog that says I've visited 13% of the countries in the world. I'm considering hitting all 100% at some point.

Now I'm back in Seattle, working at Microsoft, deciding what my next big adventure will be. I really want to go to South America but paying off my bills has taken a bit longer than expected. I might be able to pull it off in 2011 but we'll have to wait and see.

If you're planning on a trip, here are a few pieces of advice you may find useful:
.In New Zealand, make sure to eat ice cream. I've never had better.
.In Australia, you must get drunk on goon at least once. You'll feel awful the next morning, but it's worth it.
.There are leeches in the jungles of Malaysia. Wear boots.
.Go to Koh Tao in Thailand. It's paradise.
.When in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum - it's a humbling experience.
.If you think you are poor, visit India. The average income in India is $800/yr.
.Don't go to Dubai - it's a soulless city.
.Ukrainian women dress beautifully! Spend a few hours in the heart of Kiev drinking beer and watching the girls walk past.
.Prague is a great place to party.
.Switzerland is incredibly beautiful in the autumn.
.French people don't get mad if you speak english. They get angry if you assume THEY speak english.
.If you go to Morocco, be prepared to get lots of attention from people selling stuff.
.Swedish culture is still a bit pagan. Very open and friendly, especially to foreigners.

There are some things that I wish I was doing more of and would specifically like to have someone to do them with. If you're interested in any of the following, give me a shout.

Amateur photography. Specifically, going out and taking pictures for a day, comparing notes, ideas and techniques.
Dancing. I want to take a dance class, but don't have anyone to go with. I would love to have a partner to help encourage me to get off my lazy ass and go.
Hiking. I can always do a little more hiking
I’m really good at
Listening and being patient. I don't know why, but I don't get impatient when someone is telling a story they want to share. I'm even patient listening to other people's drama. To be truthful, I think I actually *like* it. I hate having drama in my own life, but enjoy listening to other people's I guess.

Because I listen to people a lot, I'm good at giving advice. Let me rephrase that. I'm good at giving GOOD advice. The actual delivery of said advice is probably not so good. I'm pretty blunt when it comes to that kind of thing. I'll listen to a one hour story about the difficulties a girl is having with her boyfriend and then, at the end of it, when she asks what she should do, I'll reply "break up with him" and then list out the reasons why. Hey, at least I don't mince words, hmm?

I great at games. I'm not really competitive, but I love playing games, from Halo to WoW to Clue to SkipBo to Pool (and I love pool!). Oh, that's another path into my heart - play games with me!

I definitely good at working with computers. So if you need your computer fixed, I'm your man.

I can be very romantic when I choose. I'm definitely one for sensuality. I don't like casual inconsequential sex (though I do love sex!). I need to feel a connection, however. If it's there, you most likely will have to suffer massages, bubble baths, and champagne by candlelight. Probably all at the same time.

I can dress to the 9s when I go out. I can pull off just about any style I need to really. From california surfer to stock broker to emo. Well... I might smile too much for the emo, but the pictures would be great.

This last year I've become a good cook. I'm not a chef by any means but I can certainly make a meal that you will rave about.

Oh, and I can make you a kick-ass cosmopolitan or kamikaze or almost any other drink you desire. One problem with my house is that people tend to drink a lot here :)

scifigal thinks I'm really good at making people feel welcome and comfortable in my house.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my good-natured attitude. I tend to be laid back and smile a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything David Gerrold or Robert Heinlein. The Belgariad is also a good series. Lately, I've been getting more into history and books on human psychology as well. My favorite book is Stranger in a Strange Land. Pretty conventional, but... hey... it's a great book.

Movies: American Beauty, The Princess Bride, The Lost Boys, Conan the Barbarian, Pleasantville, Dances with Wolves, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fight Club, Children of Men. Children of Men - Awesome movie. If you haven't seen it and plan to, do it this way: Take 3 hours of quiet time, get your food and everything ready and watch it without interruption. Trust me. That's the right way to watch this movie.

TV: Family Guy, Lost, Scrubs, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Robot Chicken, Firefly. One skit that got me laughing really hard recently was the Robot Chicken Star Wars clip where luke just got his hand cutoff and Vader tells he's his father, then tells him Leia is is sister, that he built C3PO and that the force is microbateria. It had me rolling!!!

Music: The Killers, The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Erasure, Ivy, Enya, Roxette, The Lost Boys Soundtrack, The Conan the Barbarian Soundtrack, The Toys Soundtrack (I like soundtracks), the list goes on. I also have a minor collection of Disney soundtracks, including theme park rides. Can you sing the Pirates of the Caribbean song? But my favorite song of all time is VNV Nation's Beloved. Beautiful, beautiful song.

Radio: I'm typically listening to NPR or C89.5.

Food: Italian (I'm a pasta slut), classic American, Thai, Japanese (Sushi), Greek, Mediterranean in general, Indian, cigarettes and chocolate milk. Also, borch (beet soup). I was surprised by that, but it's good stuff!

Computer/Console Games: Starcraft 1 & 2, The Thief series, The Elder Scrolls series, Halflife, Halo and tons others.

Board/Card Games: Settlers of the Catan, Pictionary, Hearts, Cribbage, SkipBo (aka Spite & Malice), Spider solitaire, D&D, Jenga.

Hobbies: XBox games, computer games, games of all sorts, hiking, geocaching, pool/billiards, drinking/partying, bartending (I have a SWEET ASS bar in my house), drawing, guitar (I'm just starting to pick it up), travel, watching TV (yes, that counts as a hobby), karaoke, and romanticsim.
Six things I could never do without
Hot showers. I LOVE hot showers
Boneless meat. Something I missed while traveling
A big, warm, soft bed to sleep and romp in
My brain. It's my playground
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What should I do next with my life?
(Looking at some advertisement or piece of engineering) Why did they do it that way?
How does the theory of relativity EXACTLY work?
On a typical Friday night I am
Lately I'm usually in Seattle either at Trinity or in Belltown, drinking, hanging with friends, and meeting new people. I often spend after hours at Noc Noc dancing and sobering up. If you want to hang with me you have to be ready to party late.

This a good place to explain something else about me. I have phases. Some weeks/months I will go into an XBOX phase, where all I do is play xbox games (or a particular game). Another week/month, I might be going out playing pool or drinking a lot. The next, I'm hiking and playing volleyball. As of this writing, I've been stuck on the computer a lot, laying about in my robe or pajamas playing Neopets of all things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was living alone, I bought tampons for the upstairs bathroom so that it was fully stocked. From the male cashier, I got the "girlfriend made you buy groceries?" comment. I had to say yes, otherwise that probably would have freaked him out.
You should message me if
You should message me if you find the above interesting and you think I might find you interesting; if you like pool; if you want to take me to dinner; if you want someone to hang with at the bars on a Friday night where you can meet some new people.

You are insecure. I don't have time to teach people to love themselves. If you don't love yourself, why would I?

You are a drama magnet. I don't mind talking and hearing about other people's drama, but I don't like to have too much of it in my own life.
