My self-summary
My name is Karin and I moved to Pittsburgh from Lancaster PA 5 years ago. I love it here, and I'm trying to find all it has to offer. I am an avid reader, avid NBA fan, and lover of all things cuddly and cute. I love traveling, but am unfortunately unable to do so often, so I am looking for fun (nearby) adventures to get into. I have 6 tattoos, and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. I got lucky and found an amazing artist:) I spend a lot of my free time playing the piano and guitar and singing at the top of my lungs.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for a non-profit Catholic mission answering letters and being the general glue that holds the place together. I have been there for 5 years, and while I am not religious, I do enjoy the job, and it's nice to know that what I am doing is helping better the lives of people in very poor countries. I have been going to school for accounting and marketing, but I am taking some time off right now. I just moved into my own apartment, and am loving it. I am trying my hand at domesticity, and it is a lot of fun. I love to cook and bake and try new recipes.
I’m really good at
making casseroles. Seriously. I am the casserole queen. I am also really good at giving birthday/christmas presents. Aside from that, there are a lot of things that I love to do, but I'm not as good at them as I would like to be. As I said before, I love to play piano, guitar, and sing, and I am working on improving on all of them. I also enjoy sewing, drawing, and writing. I like to think that I am very good at being a friend. I am very loyal, always down for anything, and a great listener.
The first things people usually notice about me
I should say eyes, but if I'm being honest I'm sure it's my boobs.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book of all time is The Little Prince. I have two tattoos from it. I also love A Tale of Two Cities, Of Mice and Men, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Tao of Pooh, and way too many others to list.
As far as movies are concerned, I have a pretty wide variety of movies that I like. I love horror movies. The best horror movies are the old 70s and 80s movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I also love Truffaut and Godard. Stolen Kisses by Francois Truffaut has to be one of my all-time favorite movies. Jean-Pierre Leaud is wonderful as Antoine Doinel in all of his movies. I also love Anna Karina and Jean-Paul Belmondo together in Godard's movies. Some other favorites are Amadeus, An Education, The Princess Bride, Aladdin, The Thing, and the list goes on...
My favorite band of all time and forever is The Kinks. One can never go wrong with The Kinks. I prefer music from before my time. The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Queen, The Beach Boys (Pet Sounds mostly), Black Sabbath, The Ramones to name a few. I do also listen to a lot of more current music. Some favorites are Neutral Milk Hotel, Bon Iver, Joanna Newsom, Rufus Wainwright, The Shins, The Chariot, and my new favorite is The Civil Wars. I also am a huge hip hop fan. A Tribe Called Quest gives me life.
I don't watch a lot of tv, but I will always love The X-files and Dawson's Creek. I also like The Office and Weeds. Despite knowing how horribly cheesy and silly True Blood is, I still love it.
In my opinion Indian food is the best thing ever invented.
Six things I could never do without
My mom, my friends, food, sex, etc, but if we're talking about actual non-obvious things....

Macaroni and cheese (I know I'm an 8 year old but it's so good), NBA, my guitar, diet coke with lime, nail polish (I have an obsession), a book to read.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I'm going to be in a few years time. I spent a lot of time thinking of nothing but what I wanted to do RIGHT NOW. Which I still feel is very important, but as I'm getting older and nearer to 30, I'm trying to think with a more adult head on my shoulders. I still have no idea about what's next, but I'm certainly keeping it in my thoughts.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out with friends at a bar or in my bed with a book or Netflix and some tea
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm kind of terrified of the future, which I guess is why I have spent so much time thinking about it lately.
You should message me if
You like to sit in a divey bar and talk about random shit for hours, you'd like to know more about me, you think we'd have fun, etc
