My self-summary

Living in Miami to attend medical school and study public health.
Looking for wierdos and queers and radicals to start projects with and chill on the beach. I'm very happily dating a person right now and sincerely just looking for friends in the strange & beautiful dystopia that is south florida.

I like activity. I like running, biking, hiking, exploring the woods and learning about mushrooms and edible/medicinal plants. I like non-fiction, spicy vegan food made by, with and for friends.

I'm devoted to being the best possible friend I can be, to be emotionally generous as much as possible, to be patient and gentle and kind.
What I’m doing with my life
Taking care of people. Glaring at cops. Studying, practicing and teaching medicine. Aikido and kickboxing. Cooking.
I’m really good at
-committing to adventures
-making huge delicious meals for large groups of people
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told that I'm intense.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read mostly non-fiction. I love radical people's histories. Vijay Prashad, Silvia Federici.
Non-Fiction: Por los caminos de Chalatenango. Yes Means Yes! How Non-Violence Protects the State. Possibilities. The Shock Doctrine. Cunt. The Second Sex. bell hooks, Kate Bornstein, Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore, INCITE! David Simon.
Fiction: Cat's Cradle. The God of Small Things. Lord of the Rings. Italo Calvino. Orwell, Ursula K. Le Guin. Roald Dahl.
I'm also a huge fan of comics! I grew up in a comic book shop. V for Vendetta and other Alan Moore stuff. Y, the Last Man. Usagi Yojimbo. The Walking Dead.

I really enjoy films where the underdogs win like Micmacs à tire-larigot, faggy John Waters and Almodóvar films, intensely political horror films, epics, documentaries about radical resistance movements and cultures, like Kanehsatake. I like Spaghetti Westerns, films about the Mexico/US Border, Miyazaki.
I haven't seen as many films as I'd like to.

My favorite album is Sam Cooke's 1964 Live at the Harlem Square Club. Besides that, I mostly listen to the music that my friends make. I'm into punk, hiphop, doom pop, hardcore, Nuyorican salsa, freak folk, Delta blues, bossa nova, roots & ruckus, bachata, rancheros, romanticas, anarchist metal, 80s-90s rockero, danceable hipster nonsense like matt and kim, crystal castles and passion pit and justice. ska, riot grrrrrrrl, phil elvram projects, perfume genius.

Hella vegan delicious everything. I love cooking.
Six things I could never do without
1. Sand between my toes.
2. A well-stocked kitchen.
3. Pining for adventure.
4. That sensation of ice-glass in your jaw when things are psychologically and existentially thrilling.
5. Philosophical discussions about how to make the world a better place.
6. Intellectual stimulation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
smashing borders. Learning more languages. Improving my medical care. Developing radical medical projects. How to be a better friend. Complex and intersecting identities. My transnational identity. Critical ethnography and anarchist anthropology, feminist analysis of and horror film, health effects of racism, fighting transphobia, how to combat nihilism and discourage pessimism. The impending destruction of the planet by capitalism.
On a typical Friday night I am
Lights & sirens.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I flag black, left pocket.
