My self-summary
I am a student at SUNY Potsdam, currently majoring in Women and Gender studies and looking to work as a councilor at a domestic abuse/women's shelter someday. I am a advocate of gender equality and consider myself a feminist, the entire movement as well as my own personal activism is really a very big part of me and it is something I am proud of. It gives me something to wake up for in the morning.

But since I'm just a volunteer in my field of choice as of now, to pay the bills I work at a stable. I love horses and used to ride competitively when I was younger, and although the pay isn't great and it's not my dream job I don't mind being around horses all the time.

I love traveling but never seem to be able to find anyone to travel with and one of my goals is to see Europe again some day. I'd love to spend a summer backpacking across Europe with at least one other person.

Right now my hobbies consist of the gender equality club I have co-founded on my campus and volunteering at Renewal House. I used to sketch and paint when I was younger as well as write fiction and I am trying to get back into that. I recently got into yoga as well.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I am a part-time student who works full time at a riding stable and volunteers at a domestic violence shelter. After I get my bachelors in a year or two I'll hopefully be moving to either Boston or Portland ME to get my masters in social work.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm betting it's the really really long, curly hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I will admit I have a guilty pleasure in young adult books (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, The Lost Years of Merlin and Tithe are a few) but my favorite genres of literature are fantasy ("A Song of Ice and Fire" is my favorite series ever) and mystery/horror (Stephen King is one of my favorites) I also love retellings of fairy tales (Kissing the Witch is a phenomenal book)

My list of favorite movies wold take a week to write, but I love all genres from romantic comedies to horror. Iron Man, Bridesmaids, Crazy Stupid Love, Sherlock Holmes, The Kings Speech, The Crow, LotR, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Avatar, Eastern Promises, Alice in Wonderland, Brave, How to Train Your Dragon, the Hannibal Lector movies. There are so many more...

I seem to get pretty addicted to dramatic/funny TV, I'm in love with Supernatural, but some close seconds are Dexter, House, Lost, The Walking Dead, Being Human (the UK version) Dr. Who, Bones, True Blood, Weeds and Breaking Bad.

I'm not sure how one would classify my musical tastes but some of my favorite bands are, The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Sheepdogs, Volbeat, Hurt, Modest Mouse, Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Seether and quite a few others.

Thai food is my FAVORITE.
Six things I could never do without
1. My friends (who are more like family)
2. My cats
3. My cell phone
4. My car
5. My laptop
6. Wine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Get out of St. Lawrence county, horses, graduating, getting a job as an advocate or a counselor, having an awesome little apartment in a city somewhere, feminism, how much I REALLY want one of those giant savannah housecats, how much I miss my out-of-state friends, how I'd love to connect with new people.
On a typical Friday night I am
I depends really, my schedule is kind of crazy. Some Fridays I'm on call, some I'm swamped with homework and some I'm looking for someone to go out and have a drink with.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not really very confident in dating sites.
You should message me if
you wish to know more about someone who is a feminist, liberal, hippie, non-patriotic humanist, who loves to talk about sensitive political topics like abortion, religion, gay rights, gender inequality and the government on the first date.

...and if you plan to write more then just "hey how are you?" or "what's up" in your message.
