Former Floridian who loves the District, and all it has to offer, but is a bit turned off by some of the people here. Take it easy, ambitious, ladder climbing folks. Your smugness is hard to bear.
Lover of all things indie. Music, books, film, you name it.
Speaking of indie: E Street Cinema, and all of the local music venues, are the places I'm more than likely hanging at on any given night.
Huge fan of Fc Bayern München; Tampa Bay Lightning; DC United, and the Tampa Bay Rays. I also have a thing for the German National Soccer team(I blame my dad, and a childhood crush on a German girl for this), but will also wholeheartedly support team USA as well. I mean, I'm an American and all, right?
Learning German because I feel the need to back up some of this German team love with actually knowing the language. Jury is still out on when I'll ever visit that country.
I may be the only human you know that follows bicycle racing. I used to be quite the bike racer myself. Maybe I should get back into that.
I love my soccer team mates, who have become good friends, and I play goalkeeper for a few teams involving those lovely people. Not sure how great of an idea this is anymore after suffering a few head injuries, but I do wear a helmet now, so yeah, I'm that guy. And no, I do not wear it outside the soccer pitch. Thank you very much, girl who thought I would be wearing a helmet on our date. (That date didn't work out, obviously, since I am still on this site, trying to, um, get a date.)
Grown adult who is very responsible but refuses to grow up fully. So if that bothers you, there's sure to be an government employee one click away.
I have played in indie bands my entire life, and have spent a lot of twenties and thirties touring. I wouldn't mind playing music in the district as well. Always looking to start a new project.
Step two: finally do something that makes you happy....
Edgar Allan Poe.
Alone through the dark.
Touching from a distance.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books. I re-read them often(or anything by Douglas Adams. the Dirk gently series too!)
World War Z.
V for Vendetta.
Most Carl Hiason.
Nick Hornby is always great.
Inside the Postal bus was fascinating(if you like cycling)
Girlfriend in a coma.
I like Yeats.
I spend ridiculous amounts of money on foreign cycling magazines.
I like comics but never really read them or buy them anymore.
I did buy the Scott Pilgrim series though. Super. Good.
I'm currently reading the Magicians, and Ready Player One. Both are excellent so far.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl was AMAZING.
Alien, the Evil Dead films, The Road Warrior, The Dark Knight trilogy, anything directed by Edgar Wright, About Time, Barcelona, and the Last Days Of Disco. Inside Llwyen Davis.
Most movies that are comic book related. Adventureland. ALL THE MOVIES....
Can't, stop, watching, Game Of Thrones....UPDATE: fuck Game of Thrones after this last episode. I still plan on hate-watching next season though.
I'm one season behind on How I Met Your Mother. Don't make fun, it's actually an enjoyable show.
The New Girl. I resisted on this one but now I'm hooked.
Homeland, but I think it's getting slightly silly.
The Walking Dead
Sherlock. Top five shows of all time. I've seen every episode like 10 times or something.
I rewatch Scott Pilgrim often. It's my go to "when I'm bummed" movie.
I was a late convert to Dr. Who, and I resisted something fierce, but I freaking love it! I blew through all the available episodes.
Music is a long list, so I will just name a bunch of what's on a heavy rotation lately.
Wolf Parade(all the bands with wolf in their name!)
We Were Promised Jetpacks
Blood Red Shoes
School of Seven Bells
Pavement and Radiohead, always
Julia and Angus Stone
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness
And, a ton of other stuff.
food: I like food. I'm pretty much game for all types.
It's sad, but I love my phone.
Playing soccer. I've become quite attached to DC league play.
I have a few friends here that I think are pretty cool.
But, since it seems that half of the women on here are listed as "bi",
that shouldn't be a problem, right? Hello? Is anyone still reading this?
UPDATE: I no longer race bikes since my move to DC. Yet, I still shave my legs, thus I'm just a weirdo...
Also, I apologize for the male gender. I have female friends on this ridiculous site, and I have seen the horrible messages that the lowest common denominator tend to send. Ugh. Humans can be the worst.
