My self-summary
I am a single working mother who is addicted to the written word. I probably have more books than clothes and am really excited to be able to read books on my Android. My tastes are random and vary depending on my mood.
What I’m doing with my life
Just working and taking care of my son, mainly. I run the office for a construction company and other tasks as needed for my boss or the guys. We're not a large company, so we're close like family. My son is my life. I have no clue where I'd be without him. He gave my life meaning and caused me to change my priorities a lot.
I’m really good at
I'm not sure if I'm good at giving advice, but people seem to ask me for it a lot, so I must be doing something right. Also I can make a spreadsheet from just about anything.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes (once described as bedroom eyes, I'm not entirely certain what that means though) and depending on wind velocity, my hair which seems to have a mind of its own.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- sci-fi, fantasy, and, of course romance (Kim Harrison, J.R. Ward, Amanda Quick, Anne McCaffrey, etc)
Movies/TV- I'll watch just about anything that isn't a reality show. (Fifth Element, Hellboy, Sense & Sensibility, Girl 6, 10 Things I Hate About You, Drive Me Crazy, The Craft, Heroes, CSI: Miami, Secret Confessions of a Call Girl, Bones, Buffy/Angel (Yes, I'm aware they're not on the air any longer, but they should be!)
Music- 94.5 The Buzz, Hot 95.7, Mix 96.5, 104 KRBE
Food- Mexican, Chinese, seafood
Six things I could never do without
My son, my cellphone, Tree Top apple juice, internet access, Vodka, and BOOKS!!!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
You know those people who write stories and post them on the internet and never get published. If I could ever finish a story, that would be me. My head is in the clouds so often, I need frequent flyer miles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Once upon a time, I had a life. I would go to the movies and visit with friends at Starbucks or play pool and have a couple of drinks.
Now I have a son. I work late, rush to pick my son up, hurry home to make dinner, wrangle a kiddo into the bath, and then pass out reading a book. I know I'm boring, but somehow I'm never bored.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am pagan. It's not something I advertise because it gets mixed reactions. I was raised Catholic with a little Baptist thrown in, so it's a big deviation from my family's beliefs. I'm not one of those people who says it because it's taboo. I really never found solace in Christianity and found it lacking something. I don't want to be preached to. Don't attack my religion; it's already been discriminated against enough. I don't want to convert anyone. I think beliefs are personal and freedom of religion is a God (& Goddess) given right.
