i hope you're not one of these people who doesn't like cilantro.

i'd rather make music than make money
and i'd rather stare out the window than stare at a phone

WHAT DO WE WANT?

to meet someone in seattle for a beer, or a rock show, or riding bikes, or playing music, or playing pinball, or building something, or learning something, or throwing rocks, or smashing things, or all or none of the above.

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

now!
What I’m doing with my life
sandwich artist (1998-2001)
detailer/porter at a car dealership (2001)
bartender (2002-2004)
newspaper ad sales (2003)
estimating engineer (2005-2011)
materials testing engineer (2011)
straight up laid off/unemployed (much of 2011)
product design engineer (2012-2016)
server/bartender (spring 2016)
product design engineer (fall 2016)

i moved to seattle in april. i was born and raised in st. louis and had been living there "professionally" for ten years and things just weren't going the way i expected them to.

i had a dream job at a startup company (yeah yeah everyone has a startup company these days) but there was no money. i was working at a soul crusher to pay my bills and that contract was coming to an end. all my friends started having kids, girls kept telling me "no" when i asked them out, and people kept getting shot.

since i was going to be unemployed looking for work anyway, i figured i might as well be unemployed looking for work in seattle instead of being unemployed looking for work in st. louis.

so i sold my couches and tossed a pretty nice mattress out in the alley, packed my car and drove up to seattle. i waited tables in south lake union for a few months over the summer. that was ... a job. on the plus side i really liked my coworkers!

now i'm back in the startup world though. in a nutshell i do "mechanical design". a lot of it involves drawing drawings which i enjoy. drawings of gears and formed sheet metal and plastic moldings.
I’m really good at
multiball.

also, TV's andy daly performed an improv scene on matt besser's improv4humans podcast based off an intro question that i wrote

there wasn't a section for "my proudest moment" so i'm putting that here
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
i stopped curating my own music collection now that i am within KEXP's broadcast range.

i was raised on a healthy diet of MST3k and the marx bros., monty python and the talking heads.

i've read a lot of isaac asimov. he loves to use the word "sardonic".

i've also read a lot of edgar allen poe. he loves to use the word "ejaculate".
Six things I could never do without
just get me a nice comfy couch i'm all set
I spend a lot of time thinking about
if they send a supersoldier back in time to stop hitler, your parents will never have been born
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to climb mount rainier, one tallboy at a time.

in seattle i'm a fan of:
watching B-movies with a pitcher of PBR at the tin hat in ballard
seeing some ridiculous karaoke at shanghai room in greenwood
playing bubble bobble at add-a-ball in fremont
seeing metal bands and punk bands play at the kraken in u-district
seeing live in-studio sessions at KEXP
shouting "repo man" quotes at the bartender at cozy nut in greenwood

and anyplace that has pinball.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i have a favorite screwdriver
