My self-summary
I am a life-long EVERYTHING. I love learning and experiencing new things (which I suppose contributes greatly to my overwhelming sense of wanderlust). When I was a little girl I wanted to grow up to be an artist like my Grandmother. As I grew older, I thought I wanted to be a writer as I seemed to have a general knack for constructing interesting sentences. Then suddenly, I discovered that I could sing. I spent the better part of my high school years singing my lungs out--taking voice lessons, learning opera and how to pronounce different languages. I decided to go to college to become a professional opera singer. However, after some rather terrible teachers and a personal breakthrough, I figured out that I could not dedicate my life to merely one art--I loved them all too much. So I decided to run off to London to study English literature/theater. I spent 2 years in Seattle teaching kids how to draw and animate and learning all about social dancing (blues, fusion, salsa, swing and tango.) Recently, I just got back from a 6 month trip to Bali and India which I did some serious...SERIOUS soul-growth and discovered a love for the healing arts.
What I’m doing with my life
Like I said, I just got back from a 6 month trip to Asia. There are very few things in this world that make me happier than traveling so I'm currently in the process of developing a career which allows me the freedom to travel whenever I desire! I'm extremely interested in self-discovery, empowerment, growth and healing. I've recently opened up my own holistic healing practice which is sort of an experiment in doing everything that I love-Life Coaching, Writing, Social Entrepreneur-ing, giving peeps Reiki, and being a Happiness Ambassador. If you love traveling and self-discovery...we need to chat. :)
I’m really good at
singing. I've been training in classical voice since I was fourteen but haven't been doing it much lately. Hopefully that will change soon. I'm also a decent writer. I don't write much for the public but random journals and my bathroom mirror are familiar with my poetry. I'm not a bad dancer. I've never been formally trained in any specific type of dance, but I tend to pick it up pretty quickly. When there's music on, my body is definitely up and moving. I'm a pretty awesome listener, also. For some reason, I've had so many experiences where strangers approach me on a bus or a train and we start talking. Soon enough, they are telling me their life story. I feel honored that people feel comfortable enough to reveal their vulnerabilities in my presence. I have vowed to use this gift to help create a better world.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well first off, my hair is a really unusual color. The best description I've heard is cinnamon honey. Basically I'm this blonde-brown-red hybrid... thing...In any case, I've been told that people immediately trust me when they meet me. I have a very friendly face and so I get asked for directions all the time. I'm also pretty freakishly genuine and sincere. I am what you see and don't pretend to be any different.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Well Harry Potter (obviously). I grew up with Harry Potter and so I have a very large emotional attachment to those books. I'm also a huge fan of any novel by Paulo Coelho. I love books of poetry as well as travel essays and books that offer spiritual enlightenment/wisdom. Recently, I've been reading a lot of stuff by Mooji and Ramana Maharshi. Guilty as charged but I'm a pretty big fan of Eat, Pray, Love and randomly Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Movies: Oh man...where do I even begin? Well Anne of Green Gables because I have childhood attachment to it but also Love Actually, Lord of the Rings, Forrest Gump, Up and Contact rank up there. Recently, I've been into documentaries like Happy and mind-bending flicks like The Fountain and Cloud Atlas.

Shows: Sort of a random assortment: Downton Abbey, The Voice, Greys Anatomy, Sherlock, Ghost Hunters, Gilmore Girls, Firefly, How I Met Your Mother, Castle and Ellen Degeneres.

Music: Umm, wow...also a lot. I love most anything that showcases a beautiful, soulful singer. Josh Groban, Kate Havenevik, Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, Azure Ray, The Decemberists, MIKA, Anna Netrebko, Enya, Death Cab for Cutie, Ingrid Michaelson, Bon Iver, The Weepies, Beyonce, Michael Buble, Regina Spektor, Train, Adele, Feist, Eva Cassidy, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Imogen Heap, Iron and Wine...I mean really, the list goes on. Oh yeah, I kinda like that new-agey stuff too.

Food: I was a vegetarian for 8 years. However, now I eat fish and some chicken after traveling the world and wanting to participate in cultural experiences that included some meat. Recently, I discovered that I have a gluten allergy. :( But I love food, like--a lot.
Six things I could never do without
1. Meditation and time/space to connect with Self
2. Art (in all of its forms) There is something about self-expression that connects humanity in a way that so many other things can't
3. Travel. I'm addicted to travel. I'm a pretty restless person so I like to explore. A lot.
4. Good food. Enough said.
5. Nature. I often get pretty sick of concrete. I definitely need greenery and fresh air pretty regularly.
6. Hugs. I'm pretty dang affectionate.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hmm...well I try not to think so much and instead, enjoy the present moment.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out Dancing? In a cafe having a heart to heart with a friend? Sleeping? Doing research? Giving a Reiki session? It all just depends what comes my way. I'm pretty variable in my activities.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
... :)
You should message me if
To quote an incredible woman:

"It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes!"

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments. " Oriah Mountain Dreamer
