My self-summary
Enjoying life, would be cool to enjoy it with someone special!
What I’m doing with my life
Doing, doing ... Well, I live in downtown Chicago (loop), work as an IT consultant. At this time I am home, waiting for my next assignment. Nice to be home for a while after 7 years being away from Sunday night through Thursday night.
I’m really good at
Being a nice person, being a good father, being a good friend, respecting people, respecting people's privacy, remembering words to songs.
The first things people usually notice about me
my chucks, when I'm wearing them!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I rarely, if ever, watch "regular" television shows. I'll catch things on History Channel, Discovery, SyFy, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, etc. Reality TV? No thanks! I prefer reality.

I like food. Real food. I don't eat the crap that is being fed to us by the food conglomerates. Stay away from fast food joints. I do like good restaurants that serve local, sustainable food. Publican is one of my favorites. The tacos al pastor at Xoco are superb (served on Wednesday only at 5pm), as is everything on menu, including the Aztec drinking chocolate!

Music, I could go on and on about music. I like a variety of music and like way too many bands to start listing. If you know Sirius XM satellite radio, here are the channels I set the presets to in my rental cars every week: Alt Nation 36, First Wave 33, Lithium 34, XMU 35, Faction 41. Before they killed it, Fungus 53 was the only one for me!! To name a few artists: Cracker, Johnny Hickman, Hickman-Dalton Gang, Roger Clyne and the PeaceMakers (RCPM), The Railbenders, Sons of Bill, Old 97's, Alejandro Escovedo, XTC, Ramones, Clash, Rancid, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Rollins, Misfits, Hüsker Dü, Bob Mould, Steve Earle, Ed Anderson (Backyard Tire Fire), Ike Reilly ... I could go on and on.
Six things I could never do without
I honestly think I could live without these things, but here's a list to satisfy the question:
- camera, I take a lot of pictures, and have taken a self portrait (BEFORE they were called "selfies") every day for over 7 years and still going. See them here: (then click on the big picture)
- my chucks, I have over 50 pair of hightop Chucks
- hockey, I dig it
- tea, I really like tea. I'm not a coffee drinker, not that there's anything wrong with coffee drinkers, I just like tea. I fact, I'll make you coffee, but I'll have tea. Yes, tea, I like tea.
- sun, especially in Hawaii
- good food, I'm sort of a foodie, tend to eat *real* foods: local, organic, not processed junk
- music moves me, I listen to music while in the shower
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what kind of bananas we will eat once the Cavendish succumbs to Panama disease
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm beyond the "going out to the bar" stage of life. Friday night could be going to Blackhawks game (at the UC or a nearby sports bar), going to a concert (prefer smaller venues), hanging out and chilling at home. Now that summer is almost here, I'm certain to be getting out more and enjoying the city once again by attending outdoor street festivals.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
ssshhhhhhh, don't tell ANYONE, but one time I removed the tag from a pillow when it explicitly told me not to under penalty of law. It feels good to get that out, I've been holding it in for years.
You should message me if
You don't need a diagram to show you how to have a good time. You'd like to do fun things in the city this summer! Good, fun, interesting meals, sit by the lake and watch Navy Pier fireworks, explore the city, festivals, music, watch the sun rise over the lake, etc, etc, etc. Prefer someone near downtown Chicago, or easy access to/from downtown. I don't own a car (by choice) so would walk/El/bike/train to meet somewhere! Also if you like Hawaii!! I'm going in October and looking for a travel companion!!
