My self-summary
I like big brains and big hearts. Intellectual curiosity and an affectionate nature are some of my biggest turn ons. I don't usually care where someone's intelligence lies but I'm looking for partners who know a lot about (and care a lot about) something. Preferably multiple somethings that partially but not completely overlap with my areas of knowledge.

I'm shy and can seem prickly at first but I warm up quickly once I get engaged in a conversation. I'm strongly in favor of cuddling. I'm loyal to my close friends and would like more friends to share adventures with. I enjoy cooking for people.

Folks I get along with well tend to identify with several of these words: queer, feminist, nerd, burner, geek, polyamorous, relationship anarchist, maker, gamer, kinky, thoughtful, curious, or cuddle slut.

I'm polyamorous and I'm not interested in casual partners or hookups. I'm looking for someone who's open to being an important part of my life if we hit it off. My ideal poly world is one where I can have all my partners (and their partners) over for dinner and a movie on a somewhat regular basis. I have one long term partner zenspider and a ever fluctuating collection of other relationships.

I'm attracted to curvy women with nice smiles. I seem to have a soft spot for women who like to wear torn jeans, hiking boots, and sweaters but can also rock a dress, makeup, and heels. When it comes to men I usually fall for the mind first but I generally am into strong silent types with long hair.
What I’m doing with my life
My two primary passions are learning and computer science. I've got this crazy job where I get to travel, teach people about computers, and build impractical things. I'm still pretty amazed that they pay me.

For fun I ski, knit, cook, read, and explore restaurants, zoos, and museums. I recently found a form of exercise I really enjoy and that has been taking up a couple evenings a week.
I’m really good at
I'm a pretty good cook and I like cooking for people. I play a couple instruments, and can pick out simple melodies on many others. I'm not so good at things that require physical coordination, talking on the phone, or being charming and amusing in a room full of strangers.
The first things people usually notice about me
People seem to notice that I'm aloof and prickly. Which is odd since I see myself as shy but huggable and lovely.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love Walt Whitman and enjoy most poetry. Recently I've enjoyed The Song of Ice and Fire, Vonnegut, The Kite Runner, Neil Gaiman, The Millennium Trilogy, Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman, and The Diamond Age.

I've met little music I actually dislike but equally little that I'm in a raging passion about. I enjoy live performances and playing music more than recordings.

I like food. Food is tasty. I'm picky about desserts and carrots are a right abomination but I like pretty much everything else.
Six things I could never do without
a library or the internet
intelligent discourse
someone or something to care for
nature to retreat into

Bonus item for fall and winter: a knit beanie. I'm rarely without a hat once the rain starts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My brain rarely shuts up. Its constantly pondering and making connections about things I see, hear, and feel. I spend a lot of time thinking about learning and how humans and animals construct knowledge. I think about computers and code and how to teach computers to learn.

When my mind is less philisophical I think about news, politics, food, sex, and friends.

On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night is usually a mellow date night: food, TV, and cuddling.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a bit self-conscious about my height. I'm not *that* tall but I still feel awkwardly tall when I'm trying to date.
You should message me if
You like smart nerdy girls and our match or friend percentage is higher than 80. Really 80 isn't too tough.
