My self-summary
a charming, nerdy type with a sassy mouth and a 'go with the flow' personality. i think a playful mindset is crucial to a well-lived life, and that it's best reinforced with a healthy mix of adventurous spirit, intellectual skepticism, and perverse humor.

invariably drawn to substance over sparkle. entertainment for its own sake is nice, but i prefer to be engaged and to see the value in the experiences i undertake.

i have little interest in following socially prescribed norms. life's too short to waste it being conformist. i dream of traveling the world, participating in intentional communities, and doing amazing, novel things with the limited time i'm allotted on this gorgeous planet.
What I’m doing with my life
i'm a new mom to twin boys, just moved to Norfolk, with my Navy husband, who is currently deployed. we're both really open-minded people, with healthy sexual appetites and boundaries, who are drawn towards other progressive easy-going types. in his absence, i would very much like to find a well-matched play partner.

moreover, I'm in graduate school for applied developmental psychology. it's kind of like being a systems engineer, but with human development instead of machines. my sub-specialties are civic engagement/ community building, autism, and developmental approaches to education. i'm a humanist who believes in working to make the world a better place while we're here. i get a lot of flak for being idealistic, but i'm all too aware of how the world works. i just think life is infinitely more meaningful when you contribute to something greater than yourself.
I’m really good at
dancing; asking insightful questions; playing with dogs and children; procrastinating; editing/writing; cooking; creative thinking
The first things people usually notice about me
physically: eyes; breasts; hair.

personality: twisted sense of humor; talent for articulation; disregard for convention; entertainingly clumsy moments.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: addicted to buying them, but i rarely read one all the way through. enjoy fiction when it pulls me in, but my default tendency is towards non-fiction. mostly i compulsively read political news and psychology research online.

Movies: kooky independents, well written scripts and the occasional formulaic feel good, but mostly stand up comedy and documentaries.

Shows: stranger things, archer, masters of sex, game of thrones, newsroom, the wire, house of cards, louie, six feet under, weeds.

Music: breakbeats, funky house, hip hop, folk, blues, jazz, & indie rock top the list.

Food: vietnamese, indian, thai, japanese.
Six things I could never do without
wouldn't want to live without, anyway:
1. intellectual stimulation
2. playtime with animals (dogs foremost)
3. inspiring views of nature
4. artistry/cultural expression
5. fresh organic produce
I spend a lot of time thinking about
philosophical abstracts; human development; issues of the world; how to build efficient systems and innovate; how to commit a crime like a professionally trained operative; art of various kinds (dance, music, collage, film, architecture); the people i care about; how to cut food like a french chef
On a typical Friday night I am
a. catching up on episodes of the daily show & nerding out online.
b. being a kick-ass mom
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
mona lisa's got nothing on me.
You should message me if
you're able to deliver witty comebacks to sarcastic comments; have non-cookie-cutter opinions about things; are passionate about what you’re doing with your life; care about humanity in general/aren’t just out for yourself; appreciate the dorkiness in others.
