My self-summary
Down to earth, romantic, nature-loving, passionate, zest for life guy, looking for similar in a partner.

My son is now beginning his second year of college, and while I miss him, I'm suddenly free all the time.
I like kids, by the way, so if you have any, that's fine with me.

I love the Northwest, and I play outside in all the seasons

I'm passionate about the outdoors, for nature, both recreationally and in a pantheistic sense. I love swimming in lakes and rivers, kayaking, hiking, skiing in the winter, or simply throwing a Frisbee in the park. While I like doing these things, I'm not Type-A about it all; I simply revel in nature. Ideally I'd like to share some of these activities with a partner.

While I love being outside, I am also very content hanging out at home, cooking and sharing a good meal with friends, watching a movie, reading, etc. I love going out to the movies, and am often at my local Laurelhurst theater. I also enjoy going to the Laurelthirst on occasion, for the music and good vibes.

I'm full of kinetic energy. I'm also sensitive, perceptive, inquisitive, and passionate. I have a great sense of humor,(sometimes sarcastic),
and have a youthful spirit.
What I’m doing with my life
Living life. Working and playing. Appreciating all that I have, and of being alive. Hiking in the gorge. Trying not to miss my son so much. . . Having fun in each new season. Practicing being more mindful.
I’m really good at
Friendliness, making people laugh, goofiness, being curious and playful, listening, perceiving, appreciating the simple and beautiful things in life, and seeing the big picture. Making oatmeal and pasta. Massage. Kissing. Being outdoors. Planning adventures.
Being physically active. Overanalyzing. Procrastinating!
The first things people usually notice about me
My friendliness and enthusiasm. My passion.
My expressive nature, and propensity to converse. . .
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: old favorites still running in my blood are Stegner,
Uncle Walt Whitman, David James Duncan, Pablo Neruda. . .
Sometimes a Great Notion. The Dharma Bums. Prodigal Summer, by Barbara Kingsolver.
Recent reads: Boys in the Boat. All the Light We Cannot See. The Goldfinch.
All were excellent!

Movies: I Love movies, even romantic comedies(if they're good!). Faves include Love Actually(I watch it every Christmas). Birdman!! Vicky, Cristina Barcelona. Box of Moonlight. Babel. Lost in Translation. The Motorcycle Diaries. Foreign flicks.

Music: All sorts. Dylan, Natalie Merchant, The Band, Dido,
Greg Brown, Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, The Be Good Tanyas, etc. Along with Classical, Jazz, and Folk. I often keep Pandora streaming cause it's easy. .

Food: I eat pretty healthy most of the time, a little meat, a lot of veggies. My son and I always ate a salad after the main course. Good beer, and maybe a burger, after a hike in the gorge. Pasta.
I love making a crisp with fresh fruit picked out at Sauvie's Island.
Six things I could never do without
Family and friends. Wild Nature. Mountain lakes. My bike. A sense of humor, especially the self-deprecating kind. My down comforter, my down sleeping bag. Yogurt. Garlic. Wine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life. The brevity of it. . . Appreciating the small things and finding joy in them. The imbalances in the world.
My next adventure, big or small.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going out for a movie, music, catching a beer,
or simply staying in. Love cooking and sharing a meal.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
