The nitty gritty one is that I'm a half German/Irish, half Chicano import to the City of Angels from Texas. though I've been an Angeleno for several years and this place is home for the foreseeable future.
I'm currently in a relationship, but that doesn't preclude meeting cool people doing cool things.
By night and weekend (and sometimes vacation), I pursue my own projects about stories and communities that don't get attention they deserve. In the past few years, I've done a web series, a documentary, and a couple music videos and short films.
I've been getting back into serious running and will be tackling my first half-marathon in about 10 years in early November.
Like to work with non-profits focused on the arts and enjoy serving. Been very blessed in life and like to share the opportunities with others that I was given.
I own my own place and live pretty comfortably when I'm actually there. Even after a few years looking to make it more of a home.
It's frequently brought to my attention that I'm not the most vertically imposing dude. I've dated taller and shorter, numbers are just numbers to me. If your attraction to me is based on that, we're probably not each other's type (unless you find my height a plus).
Love LA authors, Elmore Leonard, just got hip to Junot Diaz, Stephen King, random smattering of books that find their way to me.
Rashomon, City of God, Do The Right Thing, Unforgiven, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Battle of Algiers, Ghostbusters, Once Upon a Time In the West, Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight
The Wire (best show ever made), Breaking Bad, Daily Show, Colbert, City of Men, Sherlock, Mad Men, Louis, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Silicon Valley newest addition to the list
I've had the pleasure to get to know and make friends with some local LA bands like Las Cafeteras, Irene Diaz, Maria del Pilar, and some of the folks in Ozomatli, so have to shout out to them and tell you to go to their shows and support their music!
Other than that, Nas, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Radiohead, Cinematic Orchestra, Ana Tijoux, Johnny Cash, hip-hop, jazz, rock, film scores, if it's got soul and I can feel, I'm down with it.
