My self-summary
Hello, my name is Daniel. I recently moved into the area and am looking for new people to hang out with, talk, and have some fun! Born in Israel, which makes me Jewish, but unless you are a Nazi that shouldn't offend you :P

I love doing things that are interesting, exciting, and spontaneous. My ideal date is not dinner and a movie, it is more like sushi or falafel dinner, guitar jamming in the park, going out on the town watching a poetry slam or salsa dancing, and then talking about how fun that was. I've always wanted to do a tandem-bike date. Portland, here we go.

I am open to a lot of new things and perspectives. I also wear my heart on my sleeve, which is a double edged sword. People will be able to tell very easily when I like them, but also when I don't. A fan of old school romance, I have been known to do some cheezy things for girls.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently I am a full time History teacher in a school nearby (I have also taught Criminal Justice, Sociology, American Minorities, Government, Current Issues, and Economics...pfew) . I also started a guitar club at the school I teach in, having the time of my life trying to show teenagers how to rock out.

My near term goals include getting a masters in History, and my life ambition is to be a college professor at a small or community college, where like Indiana Jones, I will be able to teach while exploring caves and stopping Nazis. Well, some of that will be true.
I’m really good at
Playing guitar has been a passion for me since I was a teenager. I love to play 80's metal, classic rock, folk, and some classical pieces. I also love to ride/ tour on a motorcycle during the summers, finding new places, meeting new people, and experiencing life. I've been told I'm a pretty good teacher from quite a few challenging/ rough and tumble students, which I take as one of the ultimate complements!
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I almost always have a great attitude and lots of energy. I couldn't be a good teacher without both. I'm also pretty ambitious. I've lived on my own 100% since I was 18 and have always gotten what I worked hard for. Lastly, I'm pretty curious and open minded, especially if I am talking to someone similarly like minded.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read lots of Russian authors- LN Andreyev, Pushkin, Checkov, also other interesting authors like Kafka, Pirsig, Poe, Wells, and Ellison appeal to me.

Book titles I enjoy are things like 1984, Brave New World, Invisible Man, Fahrenheit 45, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Flow, The Last Opium Den, The Trial, and on and on...

I'm a serious bibliophile, so I have a large collection of books on history, politics, social justice, the criminal justice system, and find myself reading 3-4 books a month when I can. I prefer to date women who are into reading- talking about books is sexy as hell.

Middle eastern food is my favorite, and I will end up taking you to that and Sushi if we become friends. I'm pretty adventurous as an eater, so I'll do mostly anything. Never tried nor will I, rocky mountain oysters, however.

Musically I wouldn't be able to categorize too well- some classic rock/ metal groups I like include- (let's do 2 random ones in each letter just for shits and giggles)
A-Accept, AC/DC (Bon Scott era)
B-Black Sabbath, Blind Guardian
C- Conception, Cinderella
D- Dokken, Def Leppard (first three albums mostly)
E- Extreme, Enuff Z Nuff
F- Firehouse, Flotsam and Jetsam

But I'll sing along in the car with anything from Michael Jackson, Prince, Donna Sommer, Madonna, etc., It's all good.

Favorite movies: The Fall, Shawshank Redemption, Motorcycle Diaries, The Great Debaters, Gallipoli, Blade Runner, Nikita, The Fountain, The Seventh Seal, and lots of social documentaries.

Shows: Always Sunny, ViceNews, Parks, New Girl (Zoe is my lifelong crush), Office, and other things everyone else watches.
The six things I could never do without
Music, art, the outdoors, great beer, students to teach, and hummus.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Curriculum for class and current world issues. I am a news junkie, so I need my morning NPR fix along with my coffee. Also, I am always coming up with new ideas for music for my guitar club students to rock on with. Lately I've been really sad about the prospects of the upcoming election...I will always feel the bern, sigh.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out on the town, perhaps watching a local show, hanging out with a friend or two, or relaxing with a nice beverage after the long work week. People watching is a good hobby of mine, as is doing social experiments when I need to get my sociology fix. You've been warned.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I used to be an assistant manager of a Spencer Gifts when I was 20. Interesting gig.
You should message me if
you are interested in talking to, hanging out with, or just meeting someone who is open, fun loving, driven, loves animals, and is adventurous :)
