My self-summary
I've been living in San Francisco since making a wrong turn at Albuquerque. Most of my life has been spent living in the New York metropolitan area. The New York part of me is still around and people sense it (see below) but I think California is making me a little more mellow. Just a little bit. All the snow decorations that San Francisco puts up around Christmas time are still weird though.

In my previous life I was a theater director who worked as a freelance proofreader, a publicity assistant at a small publishing company, and as a supervisor for a national non-profit. I have an M.F.A. in directing for theater from the New School University in New York. I've directed in very small off-off Broadway theaters with no name recognition. Ah the life of an artist.

My passions in life are for all kinds of art and performance, literature, music, travel, fairness and equality. I enjoy good food and drinks, small social gatherings, and well lots of stuff actually.

I am kind-hearted (most of the time), artistic, and a bit cerebral.
What I’m doing with my life
Looking for ways to get involve and explore the San Francisco Bay Area. Reading lots of books and always trying to learn new things. Thinking about art, politics, history, philosophy, human nature, and ethics. Wanting to become a better cook. Discovering new music (any recommendations?).
I’m really good at
Directing for the theatre, firmly stating my beliefs, and standing up for what I believe in, tenacity, figuring out courses of action (most of the time), being a bit disorganized but knowing where the important things are, occasionally telling funny jokes and making wry observations, compassion, honesty, standing by my friends and loved ones, supporting people.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am from New York. This can happen without me even saying a word.

Six things I could never do without
art, theatre, books, passion, friends, and food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?

Where to start? I think about a lot of things and think this is a good thing. I spend a lot of time thinking about the world and how to fix its problems, how amazing it is to see the hills and mountains of North and East Bay when looking around San Francisco, the joy of cold autumn air. I think about art, history, politics, theatre, and the human condition and experience in general.
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on how close I am to finals. I can go to the theatre, a movie, a concert or performance, or a bar or restaurant with friends, stay in and read or watch a DVD.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't get the idea of stuff that is "so bad it's good" Kitsch and camp were never my things.

I've danced the Hora with Hasidic Jews in Paris under the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve.

I've also received at least two fortune cookies with messages approaching communist propaganda and am amused by this.

French and Italian accents are completely charming and get to me every time.
