My self-summary

I've just moved to North Cambridge for work for at least the next 9 months. I'm here with my trusty Honda Element, hiking books, camping gear and a wet suit. Let's adventure!

Part Winston Wolf, part hostage negotiator. I'm a hired gun (brain?) making things better in the world of Biotechnology and medical devices.

I swear like a sailor and go out of my way to be kind to children, old people, and strangers. I am also pro Oxford comma.

I love the geekier things in life, the smarter things in life and filling up my passport.

So far: France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Canadia, Mexico, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, New Zealand, Taiwan (sort of), USVI, Hawaii (I know, still US but I'd say it counts as Adventure).

So many more places left to experience.
What I’m doing with my life
I have spent my entire career making things that help people who desperately need them.

It was just a job.

Then, after the fifth, the 10th, the 30th person- came up to me and thanked me for what I was did, what I had helped to make, it dawned on me that it was more than that. I help people.

It. Feels. Amazing.

I fill my life with great friends, helping others, learning, laughter (both quiet and uproarious), and, most recently, travel.

I love my beautiful friends, I love my beautiful life (this includes the friends that don't think they are beautiful- eventually they will understand that they really are).
I’m really good at
Making things #better.

Making friends with every child and every dog I meet. I love them. They love me. Easy peasey

Collecting and connecting amazing people.

Going with the flow.

Hosting dinners, BBQs, cocktail parties, birthdays. I live for that kind of thing.

Having my shit together.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm an extrovert and I'm always smiling. Especially when I do something dumb like trip over nothing. I laugh at myself daily.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Six things I could never do without
The internet

SCIENCE(!) (it pays my bills)

My friends. I am such a social creature. I love being around people most of the time.

Intimacy. (Sex is easy, intimacy is hard to come by)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How my actions impact other people, how I fit in to the big picture, how I can best make things better for everyone- but especially for people who can't do it for themselves.

On the topic of Religion (going deep here)

Believe what you will. If it brings you peace, happiness, motivates you to do good things both great and small? I'll help. Need a ride?

If, instead, what you believe leads you to violence, hatred, disdain for your fellow human? Perhaps examining the root of that message is in order. Believe what you will, but if it makes you a cranky xenophobe who feels empowered with a righteous license to hate, keep it to yourself. There is enough of that in this world.

So... don't be that person. I consider myself a relaxed and groovy atheist. Do your thing. Love your life, love people, and yourself.
On a typical Friday night I am
Having a night in with friends at my place to get our Sci-Fi Friday on. I'll cook for everyone, we drink cocktails while some enjoy the Sci Fi on TV, some spin fire poi, some soak in the spa or just have lovely nights talking with friends. My house has turned in to Cheers for the Nerd set. As one of my friends says "It's where everyone knows your Klingon name..."
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was in the LA Times as one of those people that looks like their dog.

Yeah, I know. But he's rad and he didn't mind.

And I was in Doctor Horrible in a purple suit and got an IMDB credit out of it.

I am REALLY bad at taking my own advice. I'm getting better though.
You should message me if
You should message me if you totally want to ask me out on a date and you think we'd click.

You have something fun or creative to share with me.
(I learn by doing and my friends historically, have been great filters for what's good out there).

Geeky or geek-appreciative women required.

Tell me about new places, your favorite places, those hidden, great things that most people don't know about. Talk to me about your travels, past or future.

Your awesome. Show it to me. (Yes, I conjugated that correctly- Promise) :)
