My self-summary
I guess I'm what you'd call a hybrid creature- part urban, part backwoods. I love living in the city, with live music and independent galleries and readings within a stone's throw of my place on any day of the week. But I equally love getting into a canoe and tripping into the interior.

I'm warm, and responsive, and I have a terrible poker face.

I'm also equal parts artsy and nerd/geek. I like smart, creative people.
What I’m doing with my life
What am I doing with my life? Well, as a high school teacher, I'm spending a heck of a lot of time with young'uns, and that's a pretty great thing to do. Don't let anyone fool you- the kids are alright. And I teach English, so we spend a lot of time contemplating the "big questions." And teaching them forces me to think about how it is that I know how to do things. I am constantly reflecting about language and thought and the politics of power... it's an intense classroom for me too. Phew. That's an intense question. Jeez louise!

I'm also relishing my time outside work. I like heading out into the wilds, but for me, it's not an outdoor gym. I like the fact that I exert myself physically when I'm out there- it feels good. But I've always loved hiking in the woods or in a field. I stop often- listening, looking. So many things underneath our feet.
I’m really good at

putting together a cheese course
doing nothing for extended periods of time
freudian typos
The first things people usually notice about me
my enthusiasm. In pictures, people see it in my smile and my eyes. In person, well, I'm a "hand-talker."

you know, given this site is what it is, and attracts the kind of people it attracts, shouldn't we be prompted to also declare our favourite websites andor podcasts?

you think that all in all, life is a pretty good deal. You are smarter than the average bear, but you're comfortable with knowing that there's stuff you don't know.
