My self-summary
Ah, a nice text box to summarize myself? I'm your basic friendly neighborhood motorcycle riding, photography loving, computer geek. I guess we'll see what OkCupid can do to categorize and match that, ;)

I make my part of my living thanks to the Internet, but I've seen enough to have a few reservations as to whether electronic dating is viable. On the other hand anything is possible so maybe it'll connect me to some amazing people I'd never have met otherwise.
What I’m doing with my life
What am I doing with my life? Well, recently I returned to college to complete my bachelor's degree. I'm looking forward to exploring the theories behind the work I've been doing for the past several years. Coming back to the Willamette Valley after spending time in Anchorage has been nice, I'm seeing some familiar sights through new eyes.
I’m really good at
Conversation, laughing at your jokes, digging up situation appropriate Internet meme pics mid conversation.

My pesto fettuccine alfredo is respectable and I make a wicked borscht. If I'm not traveling and have a little space I can raise up a formidable kitchen garden. Tomatoes, lemon cucumbers, basil and swiss chard are personal favorites.
The first things people usually notice about me
Positivity, my laugh. People who get to know me over the Internet before we meet in real life often tell me that I'm taller than they'd imagined.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
It feels like I've been reading technical manuals and textbooks for a decade solid but when I do read literature I generally go with a classic or science fiction. Some favorites include A Tale of Two Cities, The Castle, Neuromancer, The Idiot, Brave New World, Guns Germs and Steel.

I have varied taste in movies, but unless a blockbuster is exceptional I'd rather watch a quirky smaller movie. Mean Streets, Secrets and Lies, Out of Sight, Solaris, Casablanca, Idiocracy, Cold Souls, Millers Crossing, Barton Fink.

Lately on TV I've been really enjoying Louie, I think that show is ground breaking. Breaking Bad is tremendous, I really like the first season of Walking Dead. I'm slowly working my way through Lost from the beginning via Netflix streaming.

Musically I'm pretty back dated, I have to make a conscious effort to move forward in time instead hanging around the 50s, 60s and 70s. Jazz and Funk are my two favorite genres though I was raised on (and still love) classic rock. Miles Davis, Art Tatum, The Funky Meters, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Pat Metheny, Steve Kimock, John Coltrane, Elvis Costello, Isaac Hayes, Carlos Santana, David Grisman.

After twenty years of fairly strict vegetarianism I've started eating meat again. I started with fish and poultry but I've worked my way up to occasionally grilling steaks as of the end of this summer. Italian, Thai, Mexican and Japanese food all frequently make their way into the rotation. There's not much that beats a well executed Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
Six things I could never do without
* Modern conveniences: Central heating, running water (esp hot), mattress and box spring
* The Internet
* Music
* Comedy
* Good conversation
* Something to look forward to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How best to make my way through the academic maze, and my next move after that. Who you might be and what makes you laugh. Why it is so hot and why the economy is in this handbasket.
On a typical Friday night I am
Decompressing from the grind, socializing, relaxing over some tasty vittles.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not a lot... The Internet is more or less permanent and damn hard to predict. If you want to know my private thoughts then I suppose you'll have to take the next step beyond checking my profile.
You should message me if
You'd like to chat, get to know each other a little bit. Message me, quiz me, tell me your second best joke (save the best one for later).
