My self-summary
The name is Laura, but I go by L.J. I like all things vintage, still listen to vinyl records, use film cameras, and shop at Salvation Army. Not fond of cats (but they are growing on me) but love dogs. I bake when I can’t sleep and enjoy foreign movies.
What I’m doing with my life
I recently completed university where I studied public relations and fashion merchandising.
Hoping to travel to Brasil for the World Cup but it's not looking too safe with all the riots so we'll see what happens.
I’m really good at
Mmmm.... Does eating count?
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, my red fro, and my personality (so my roommate says).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Of Mice and Men, anything by C.S. Lewis or Ernest Hemingway, cookbooks, and poetry. And the good ol' books I read in high school like To Kill a Mocking Bird, The Outsiders, and A Modest Proposal.
Movies: Funny Face, Green Street Hooligans, The Professional, Black Swan. I'm not a lover of romance comedies but love a good action or drama. For Romance I prefer something like Fight Club. And absolutely love foreign movies so I'm always down to watch Amelie (or anything with Audrey Tautou)
Shows: The Amazing Race, No Reservations, Project Runway, HGTV, Food Network along with any cooking or traveling show.
Music: This is a very broad topic for myself. I listen to a various artist from M.I.A. to Michael Buble! Including The Black Keys, Ellie Gouldling, K'naan, Nat King Cole and Edith Piaf to name a few.
Food: I'm not lie I enjoy discovering new foods. There's not much that I don't like. But I'm always ready to eat Japanese and a great pasta with wine.
The six things I could never do without
1. Family/friends
2.Good food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Traveling and more traveling. Traveling within the US. Traveling abroad. Looking for careers overseas.
On a typical Friday night I am
Now that I'm finished with school and don't spend countless nights in the library I try to grab dinner with friends or attend a laid back dinner party. Catch a concert. Or spending a night in unwinding on the couch with my roommates with a cup of wine in hand.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I usually eat the last slice of pie during Thanksgiving.
