I am nerdy, passionate, and down to earth. jesus, did I just put that?
Let me rephrase: I am a nerd. I am passionate about photography to the point I wake up and think about photos. Middle of the day, photos. Right before I go to sleep, sex. Then, photos.
I am down to earth to the point that I have a bank account where I put money, I make regular payments on all my bills and do not think vampires are real. Astrology is a bunch of cool designs, I don't aspire to Make It in LA, and I bought my jeans because they'll last years.
I'm actually rather good at saving people's lives. Done that a few times. Let's see, I've saved three old people, a Buddhist monk, two babies.
I have never saved anyone with my Michael McDonald impression, but I've yet to try, so I can't count that out as a possibility.
So, I got that going for me.
movies: The Princess Bride, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Seven, Zero Effect, Primer, The Long Goodbye, Punch-Drunk Love, Django Unchained...so so many. My parents took me to 2 movies a week Every week until I left for college. If anything, that habit's only gotten worse (better?)
music: The Beatles, St. Vincent, The New Pornographers, Ty Segall, Chance the Rapper, Azealia Banks, Led Zeppelin, Jay-Z, Queens of the Stone Age, Jean Grae, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, everything my mom listened to in the 60s, everything my dad listened to in the 80s, everything that really cute girl listened to in college, I listen to music like other folks eat. Way. Too. Much.
Sometimes I'm running around doing a photo shoot, perhaps in a downtown tunnel, or on a rooftop overlooking the city, or at my friend's ranch, trying to emulate a scene from Se7en, with my dad doing the Morgan Freeman role, and my friend Amanda as Kevin Spacey.
Occasionally I'm out trying to find the best burger in the city. I've actually spent the better part of a year trying to find LA's best burger, probably because of a life-long love of burgers instilled in me by my father, who always considered McDonalds a "hearty meal".
And like having your photo taken.
