My self-summary
I moved back to Canberra for my second stint in 2013, and I think I'll be sticking here for a bit now after travelling around a lot for work over the past five years. At the moment I work in policy research, but I used to be a journalist.

I love seeing new places and I've done a lot of independent travel around Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, etc. I love to have those moments where you gasp because you've seen something you've never seen before, to try new cuisines, and to try to learn new languages and then make comical mistakes. So I'm always hoping to go on a trip!
What I’m doing with my life
As I said above, I used to be a journalist, but now I'm working on aid and development policy. I have worked overseas for a while, in Indonesia and Timor-Leste – but unusually for someone in Canberra, I've never been a public servant!

But I've gotten to do some pretty cool stuff.

I've...
-climbed an active volcano
-dined with a rebel militant leader
-gone hiking to see rare carnivorous dragons with razor sharp teeth and septic saliva
-been taken on a private tour of a mid 19th century gunpowder storage facility by a former Australian prime minister
-said hello to the Pope in Sydney just two days after having my wisdom teeth out
-bought a one way budget flight to the central Lithuanian countryside after closing my eyes and waving my finger over a map
-worked for a circus

and more!
I’m really good at
words and stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
My 'full figuredness'... then they notice that I do heaps of kickass stuff and then they don't care!

Basically I'm just saying straight up here that I'm not a slim person, fyi. But I rock it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love some classic Australian comedy films like 'The Castle' and 'Muriel's Wedding'. I prefer either a) films that make me laugh/smile or b) films that make me think. Films that make me groan or films that make me feel like I just visited an abattoir are not my favorites.

Food... well, I love it. I'm always up for trying something new. I especially love Asian food, but I also delighted in the fantastic choices from Latin America in the States. I'm also always more than happy to eat vegetarian, if that's your deal. I also love cooking and trying new recipes.

Music... indie. pop. rock. indie-pop. pop-rock. folk. acoustic. jazz. blues. anything good, as vague as that sounds.

Books... hmm its hard for me to pick a couple of favorites, but one of the ones I have read recently and really enjoyed was "Americanah" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Exercise... Last year I was having a great time doing walks up Canberra's great hills, going to classes at the gym, doing yoga and swimming laps, but unfortunately I got struck down by a (temporary, non-contagious!) illness so have to take baby steps back into exercise. Hoping to be back to all this soon.
The six things I could never do without
-family and friends
-books
-the internet
-planes, trains, automobiles or my bike (i.e. a way to see the world!)
-my camera
-laughing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the big problems in the world and what to cook for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
usually catching up with some friends for a drink.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I instagram my food.
You should message me if
you want to hang out in Canberra, do something fun or have a chat over coffee and see how we get along. If you think it sounds like we have a thing or two in common. Then we can see where things go.
