My self-summary
I grew up in sunny South Florida and moved to sunny, though much colder, New York City in 2011 for grad school. I'm not particularly great at describing myself so here's a list of things I like: wandering around the city, cooking, eating, history, fun facts, bad jokes, listening to podcasts (including but not limited to The Dinner Party Download, This American Life, Radiolab, and Planet Money), reading, Jonathan Safran Foer, Nicole Krauss, yoga, learning new things (especially about this fine city), kids, dancing, laughing, and going to museums. There. How's that to start?
What I’m doing with my life
Teaching elementary school. Finally. (I just completed my master's program and am very, very excited to begin working in my field.)
I’m really good at
Telling awful jokes and making origami frogs.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The History of Love, Catcher in the Rye, East of Eden... I usually love books I've just read, but that hasn't been the case lately. Shoot me some book recommendations!

Shows: Top Chef, Homeland, The Newsroom, So You Think You Can Dance (it's my trashy reality show--and to be fair, it's not *that* trashy), Downton Abbey, How to Make It in America, cooking shows with Ina Garten

Music: I toggle between several stations on Pandora, namely the Avett Brothers, Vampire Weekend, and Kate Nash. Oh, and lately there's been a healthy dose of Beyonce.

Food: I'll try just about anything but I'm always extra happy to eat pizza, barbecue, anything with any type of shellfish, really good sushi, and "New American" food--which I'm pretty sure just means food that is thoughtfully prepared.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a fear of birds. Strange, I know. Conversely, I'm NOT scared of bugs, snakes, rats or anything like that.
You should message me if
You think wandering around the city is a perfectly good way to spend your time, learned an interesting fact today, or have a podcast to recommend or discuss. Or obviously if something else compelled you.
