My self-summary
I just moved to Lincoln about a week ago and I am excited to explore! I grew up in California, and have moved around quite a bit over the last 10-15 years (in the US, and I lived in Israel for a short time). It can be pretty exhausting, but I have to say I love experiencing so many new things, and meeting so many different kinds of people. It reminds me how awesome it is to travel and explore the world.

A few things about me... I love getting out and trying new things (which is why I guess I have moved around so much... also because my job has sort of made it hard to stay in one place... which I think will be changing soon!). I love going to see live music, and I love photography. And one of my favorite things to do on a warm day is go have brunch on a patio somewhere... but I also really enjoy being active in the outdoors... I have run one half marathon (and hope to do another one in the spring!), and I also really love cycling, but the more active the day, the more i look forward to a little time on my couch to unwind. Usually with a good movie and a bottle of wine... and someone that makes me laugh.

Sense of humor and wit are important to me... I try to throw out my fair share of zingers and I love to have them thrown back at me. The people that know me best would say I'm outgoing, easy to connect with, and full of passion and compassion. That passion definitely extends to my work... I'm very driven when it comes to my job, though I know there are many more important things in life than work. I adore my family (parents, two older brothers, sisters-in-law, 4 nephews, 1 niece, and a huge extended family!)... as far as that goes, I truly am the luckiest person on Earth. I just wish they lived closer...

Anyway, if there's anything else you want to know, feel free to ask!
What I’m doing with my life
I am a professor at UNL and run a research lab there.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books are tough. I tend to read a lot of books that relate to my line of work (Blink, My Lobotomy, Look Me in the Eye, Thinking Fast and Slow), and other favorites are books by Milan Kundera, Kurt Vonnegut, and also The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Shows: Arrested Development (before the last season!), Six Feet Under, West Wing, and definitely Breaking Bad. And I have to admit... I've been known to watch stupid reality TV to unwind after a stressful day.

Movies: Pulp Fiction, The Departed, Shawshank Redemption, Seven, A Few Good Men. there's more, but those come to mind quickly because I've seen them each about 1,000 times. More recently, I saw Seven Psychopaths, and I really liked it.

Music: really runs the range from electronica and alternative to pop/hip hop. Some faves are Radiohead, Imogen Heap, Florence + the Machine, Stars, Ladytron, La Roux... well, too many to name.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The human brain. Probably far too much time actually...
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm new to Lincoln, so not a whole lot the last week or so... just walking around and getting to know the area. But usually... dinner and drinks somewhere with friends, blowing off some steam from the work week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That's tough to think of... but I'm sure it will come out. I'm sort of an open book.
You should message me if
You think we'd get along. But please don't send me a message that just says "Hi"... I like it when it seems like someone actually took the time to find out about me and thinks we'd have something interesting to talk about.
