My self-summary
I think that life is an adventure and I subscribe to the "what will I be happiest about when I'm 80" school of decision making. I am continually looking for ways to add more adventure to my life.

I am queer. I love men, I love women, I love people who identify somewhere else along the spectrum. The human body is neat and fun in all of its forms. Human interaction is even better. And man - brains are *sexy*!

Fozzie Bear is my patronus (this week, anyway).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a geek professionally, helping geeky people work together better and fighting to improve insurance. I'm traveling as much as I can manage (which seems to be settling out at less than half the year, so far). I spend a fair bit of time with my partner and friends.
I’m really good at
According to a previous employer, "Doing the impossible with nothing, regularly."

It was in my review. I asked if I should be wearing a cape to work.

I'm also good at cooking, and do it for large groups. I'm great on a grill.
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes, smile, giggle, that I'm offering them food, light, cute, fat. Calm.

And the rainbow (or very very short) hair.

I'm not especially shy about being me. (Though I can be quiet. Come closer, so you can hear me!)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This box is too small and there isn't enough time to list them all, so a partial list:

Books: It has words in it, yes? I will read it. I always have a book with me, often an e-book.

Movies: Movies are amusing. The ones I watch when nothing else sounds interesting... Mathilda, American Beauty, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Ghostbusters, Star Wars (IV, V, VI), The Big Lebowski..

Music: Shawn Colvin, Allison Krauss, the Normal Brothers, Aimee Mann, Glen Phillips, The White Stripes, Cake, Beautiful South, Nickle Creek, Bonnie Raitt, Great Big Sea, TMBG... and more, and more, and more.

Food: My cooking, food cooked for me, interesting food, new food, tasty food - really, I just like food. Mexican (good mexican, especially sonoran) is my comfort food. Grilling is beyond food and into religion.
Six things I could never do without
Assuming the basics are covered, leaving these as optional but preferred...

snuggles, reading material, my blankie, conversation, a kitchen and friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the fact that I am always learning and growing and reading.

How friends find each other, how people interact, how different
that is in different places and situations.

How to get to Antarctica sometime soon (no luck yet, but I did support a team that went down in early 2013), other interesting travel I'd like to do, scuba diving, generally living the adventure story.

Designing or re-designing knit items, getting ahead on my holiday knitting, playing with yarn, being obsessively organized about my knitting. (Though if you don't knit, I don't think I babble about it a whole lot.)

Other crafty things - painting, designing jewelry, beadwork. Debating picking up (another) musical instrument. Singing along with music, no matter where I am.

Deep space networking, field season planning, how to best organize a new project, ways to make my job easier, ways to NOT be irreplaceable professionally.

kinky sex, beautiful things, hugging trees, fascinating brains, how best to communicate things...

I think a lot, about all sorts of things.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a movie with my partner, or curled up watching TV at home. With friends out or at home. Spending time with my family. Cooking for those I love. Curled up with a movie. Having a hot date. At an interesting party of one sort or another. Sleeping. Working. Knitting. Wandering about.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I'm polyamorous, and not especially interested in monogamy (read: not willing to walk away from people I love). I'm not especially interested in relationships that exist to be labels, or having a relationship at the whim of someone I'm not dating. I'm working hard on cultivating an allergy to drama.

Or - that I have a chronic illness that sometimes limits what I can do, and causes me to not be able to always be as consistent as I'd like. I hate this, and I'm always doing everything I can to improve it, but it is a fact of my life.

I want to know your stories because they're interesting and they're new and they're *information*... PLUS they tell me more about you!

I'm easily amused, like puns more then I should necessarily admit and am terribly gullible at times.
You should message me if
If your profile is blank and you've answered no questions... give me an idea *why* you think we might get along. Heck, even if it's not blank, it might help me to know what caught your eye. Complete sentences help, too.'re hopeful, doubtful and (perhaps not) completely insane. Oh, and you like to laugh. If you're a lover and a dreamer.

...our first conversation won't need to be about how amazing it is to discover that there are geek girls (or similar). have an adventure story to share with me - or any story at all, really. enjoy reading, telling and/or hearing bedtime stories.'d like to go adventuring - big or small, park or museum - drop me a line. I'm always looking for people to adventure with. scan bookshelves to gain insight on people, as you get to know them.

...A bookstore or coffee and chat sounds like a fantastic first date to you. (That's not a requirement, but I'm likely to say no to a situation where we won't get to talk.)
