My self-summary
Brooklyn born and bred. I currently reside in Bay Ridge, which is where I grew up. I've been back here exactly five years now. Before that I lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for more than six years. Prior to that I was in Dublin, Ireland for more than a year. prior to that I was a student at Bard College.

I like to be active. I like being outdoors moving around but I'm far from a fitness freak or anything like that. An hour or so of vigorous cardio a week usually suffices for me. We have a great park system in Bay Ridge so that affords some good opportunities for walking, running and biking. I read a lot for leisure and it's also a significant part of my career. I'm a cerebral person but I do enjoy indulging in some pleasures.

I'm an art and music enthusiast. I generally attend classical or jazz concerts. Recently I've been to the Miller Theater at Columbia and the NY Philharmonic.. I also enjoy the ballet and modern dance. I saw Paul Taylor last year at Lincoln Center. It was outstanding.
Update: Made first trip to Carnegie Hall on Friday nite (04/07) for the SF Symphony Orchestra. Outstanding experience musically and in the venue itself.

I'm not narrow-minded in my interests and certainly appreciate pop music too. Driving to work I'll generally listen to jazz or classical, which are conducive to relaxation and concentration, both useful for teaching. On the way home I'm just as likely to be pumping rock or rap on the radio.

I enjoy cooking and have a decent repertoire.

I'm newly single after an eighteen month relationship. So I reactivated this profile hoping to meet a nice young lady.
What I’m doing with my life
Career wise - teaching.
I’m really good at
Spinning a ball on my finger. I have a good memory and I'm observant.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I subscribe to three magazines: the New Yorker, NYRB and Poetry. I'm sure you can make some judgment about me based upon that. I teach philosophy for a living so much of what I read is philosophical. But I have a penchant for a good novel every now and then. I'm thinking I will try something by Phillip K. Dick next. I'm open to recommendations.
Six things I could never do without
Dostoyevsky's protagonist Raskolnikov observes that a human can get used to anything.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
We'll have to see.
On a typical Friday night I am
I can actually go out on Fridays for the next two months. Then I'll be teaching early on Saturday mornings come March, which means I will be having very low key Friday nights. Also I will be prepping.
