I'm a computer wizard and enjoy working from home. I am a true Manhattanite, and love my city very much. I am into bikes, movies, making music and hanging out.
Wait, that sounds kinda cheesy, even if its true. Okay, sometimes I can be moody, and I'm a bit of a workaholic...
Let's try that again:
I'm an old beer drinking, guitar playing, pool playing, bike riding GEEK who loves fun, hanging out, and playing video games. I also have travelled, but am a bit of a homebody these days, and I also support theater and the arts. I have friends of all ages, races, genders and backgrounds, and I'm definitely one of the strangest people I've ever met.
I've been in Rock Bands, ridden a motorcycle cross country, worked for Investment Banks, grown up in Manhattan, and lived (briefely! And Ridden!) in the Netherlands. Oh, and other stuff, I can't remember it all.
WARNING: I like the French. I have a bunch of friends from France, and others from Europe. I hope you can deal with that...
Mom and Dad were vocal coaches and I grew up in an apartment with 2 Steinway Grand Pianos making music all day, which really contributed to the weirdness I guess. Nothing worse that someone singing Wagner badly at 9:30 AM. Particularly if yer hungover and crashed out and she's a 6 foot tall Norwegian Soprano Goddess (from Milwaukee), and she can really belt it out!
I was raised very liberally, and I accept all kinds of people. If you are anti-this or anti-that, then I'm probably anti-you.
There, that's a bit better...
Oh, I'm self-sufficient and don't live with my parents. ;)
I am melodic, passionate, and slightly weird
Thinking back on the things I've done, I guess you could say I'm helping to build the internet, making and supporting the making of art, provoking controversy and free speech and thought, and just generally causing trouble.
Also, I'm sorting things in my apartment. One of these days it will all be sorted out, and then Watch Out, I'll fix everything wrong in this world because I know where the right tools and supplies are...
Making music. Playing video games. Capturing flags in Day of Defeat.
Making sure we have dinner. Calming people down and lending a good shoulder to cry on. Staying up too late and procrastinating.
Figuring out complicated systems and instructions. installing things, particularly Air Conditioners and Computers (see above).
Choosing restaurants. Figuring out where we are. Taking the first step away from where we are when in a group. Getting everyone in the same key.
Making sure the dishes are done and we have enough toilet paper. Locking the doors at night. Hoarding quarters for laundry.
Also definitely my warm personality and casual friendlyness, I'm known as a bit of an ice-breaker in group settings. I have no shame, and will say or do something to get people talking in those awkward first moments.
I have been reading other's profiles and always feel a bit guilty about this question -- maybe I should list a million authors/titles/bands/dishes to give you a better idea of what I like? Problem is, I like a lot, but here's a list:
The Ringworld, LOTR, Decline And Fall Of The American Programmer, Proficient Motorcycling, The Guide To Getting It On, The Berserker Series by Fred Saberhagen, The Sensuous Dirty Old Man by Issac Asimov, The Mote In God's Eye.
Blazing Saddles, Das Boot, Dr. Strangelove, Ray, Ice Age 2, Soylent Green, The Godfather, The Life Aquatic, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?, The Bad Seed.
Led Zeppelin (yes, I said it!), John Lee Hooker, Mozart, Bloodhound Gang, Daft Punk, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The NY Dolls, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton.
Chicken Satay, Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza (but only from a real NY Pizzeria), Omelettes, Greek Salads, Sizziling Beef Cha Cha, Chicken Chimichangas, Grilled Chicken Fajita Tostada Salads, Mixed Nuts.
Maybe I'll keep adding to that until I stop feeling so guilty...
But please don't message me if you haven't filled out the profile, answered some questions, posted some pix, and haven't read my profile, I won't answer...
