My self-summary
I'm incredibly shy around people I don't know, but with a little encouragement (and maybe a little caffeine) I'll really open up! Don't get me started talking about science, religion or world issues, because I'll never shut up. I'm a born-again atheist, saved from the depths of despair by the shining light of reason! I like to dress up, to wear skirts and heels and makeup, but no one messes with me or my friends and gets away with it. You mess with me, you'll get a boot to the head (if you get this reference, your awesomeness is of epic proportion!). I love stereotypes, simply because when I break them all, people's reactions are entertaining! If you get the impression from this that I'm a little crazy, you'd be right! But I'm actually pretty smart, and if you want to have an animated conversation about something like the inherent logical fallacies of creationism/intelligent design, I'll be happy to oblige! I'm currently in a polyamorous relationship, and while I don't actively seek out new relationships, I'm happy to let them form naturally.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I'm taking a break from college to re-evaluate the direction my life is heading. In the future, I simply want to be happy, and to help make others happy too. I'm a total idealist; I want everyone to be treated equally, and for people to focus on helping each other instead of themselves. Essentially, I want to leave this world in slightly better shape than I entered it.
I’m really good at
Listening to other people's views. I find it easy to empathize with people even if I don't know them very well. I'm pretty good at coming up with crazy ideas; the trouble is I don't always share them. I've played violin since I was small, although I don't take lessons anymore and just play for shits and giggles. I'm a champion procrastinator, and I'll never do today what I can easily do tomorrow instead! I can also make some pretty tasty desserts. My chocolate chip cookies are legendary! Oh, and I wield Ockham's Razor ruthlessly, banishing unneccessary assumptions with the power of lex parsimoniae!
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd have to say my smile. I'm always smiling about something. And the fact that I like to use lots of big words when I talk. Other than that, I have no clue what people notice about me. If someone stares at me, I usually think it's because I look weird or something. Not to mention, different people will notice different things, and I don't always pick up on that. So, I have no idea what you'll notice about me first. Hopefully something good, and not the fact that I'm a smartass...whoops, probably shouldn't have said that!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love stuff that makes me think. At the moment, my favourite book is "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Richard Dawkins. I absolutely ADORE sci-fi, and my favourite author in that genre is Robert J Sawyer. He's absolutely brilliant and a fantastic writer! If you haven't read "Golden Fleece" by him, run, don't walk, to your nearest library or bookstore and READ IT!!! I don't watch a lot of TV, but I really enjoyed LOST while it lasted; even the ending! Also, my girlfriend has gotten me hooked on Avatar: the Last Airbender as well as Legend of Korra. I like most movies, but can't STAND cheesy romantic comedies. They're all the same! (On a side note, I think even a really crappy movie can be improved with the addition of a Rifftrax aka commentary from the MST3K guys!) Horror movies are good, and so are action movies. I've also started watching some anime, and am currently obsessed with Revolutionary Girl Utena! It's soooooooo kawaii!!! ^_^ My favourite music is anything that has a strong emotional appeal, the kind that seems to resonate in your soul and linger in your blood, speaking a language that can't be translated into words. I'm not that picky about foods, and I'm always down for trying a new dish; however, I absolutely HATE brussels sprouts - yuck!
Six things I could never do without
Music - I have over 1500 songs on my mp3 player, and without them I'd go crazy during commutes
Laughter - I'm easily amused and have a terribly dirty mind; even the guys I know are disgusted with me sometimes!
Soap - life would literally stink without it.
Toothpaste - can you imagine making out without it? Gross!
Caffeine - before I have my morning coffee I'm a total zombie; afterwards, I'm like a hyper squirrel.
Hugs - I love getting hugs from people, but am often too shy to give them. If you're a huggy person, then you've come to the right place!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything! I'm a very deep thinker; I think through everything. My past, present and future, my hopes and dreams, a particularly compelling bit of news, unresolved debates, an idea I recently heard about, "what if" scenarios, conflicts, relationships, sex, etc. Also, I spend way too much time thinking about how I would survive the inevitable zombie apocalypse. You can blame "The Zombie Survival Guide" for that :P
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching a movie, reading a book, listening to music, playing Lego Star Wars (again!), out with friends...really, I could be doing just about anything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My first crush was on Samus Aran, heroine of the Metroid video game series. What? She's hot stuff! Even if she's not real...
Also, in a deep part of my subconscious where reason can't get to, I believe that stuffed animals and toys are sentient. No matter how illogical that is, I can't seem to get rid of that idea, and it's all Toy Story's fault!
You should message me if
you have anything at all to say. Pissed off at something? Want to discuss nerdy topics? Just randomly checking out everyone's profile? Send me a message; I'd love to hear from you!
