My self-summary
A doctoral student and his dog.
What I’m doing with my life
A Southern transplant in Madison working on my PhD in Applied Linguistics.

In addition to my research, I'm fascinated with studying and learning about other languages. Along the way I've dabbled in ASL, Catalan, French, Italian, and Portuguese. However, only Spanish seems to have stuck. I am also a heritage speaker of Thai; ขอบคุณมากแม่!
I’m really good at
Well, languages! I am not much of a reader — I'd prefer to listen to an audiobook instead — but if you were to look through my book collection, you'd find a huge assortment of language-related material.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've heard people say my smile. Hopefully the snaggletooth doesn't get in the way, but I've been told it's cute (by women at least). ;)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I Have Chosen to Stay and Fight l, The Language Instinct

Shows: Burn Notice, Community, Gilmore Girls, Golden Girls, Orange is the New Black, Queer as Folk, Reno 911, RuPaul's Drag Race, The Walking Dead, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Music: Belanova, Jennifer Lopez, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Michelle Chanuel, Rockell, ปาล์มมี่, หวาย
The six things I could never do without
My dog Taco, WordReference, a coffee shop, index cards, my Scion xD, and my passport.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...where I'll be in a few years. I would eventually like to have a place to call my own, with a great job and a partner to share it all with. Pretty simple, but I don't need anything extravagant to be happy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting at a coffee shop, Netflix and wine, or playing video games. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Lost the greatest parents in the world, both to lung cancer.
You should message me if
...you do not mind chatting so we can get to know one another. Eventually I'd be willing to meet up for coffee (tea, beer or wine). And please, no games.

I am also looking for language exchange partners. I am trying to work on my Catalan, Portuguese and Thai, so if you're interested in meeting up let me know!
