My self-summary
I enjoy being active and working out, and I try to do it on a regular basis. I am very deep into the things I'm interested in, and can talk at length about them. In other words, I fly my nerd flag high. I'm a firm believer that everyone is a nerd about something. I love history, art, music, culture, discovering, exploring, traveling, learning, fashion, riding my bike, expression, and meeting people. Most of my ideals are off somewhere hugging a tree, reeking of patchouli. I am the person I am today because of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I am a night owl and love staying up late. I am an unintentional beer snob.

On more than one occasion I have contemplated filling this whole thing out with nothing but song lyrics. I'm not a hipster, I just dress like one in real life.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to stay well read, stay fit, have fun, explore life, all while being a working man.
I’m really good at
Teaching or instructing (the things that I know, at least). Talking at length about the things I enjoy. Being goofy.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes and/or smile. That and I will do almost anything for a laugh. And, not going to lie, the beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I always love discovering new artists/sounds. Almost every style of music is alright for me to listen to, but I tend towards styles that have lots of bass and a rhythm I can dance to. I am willing to debate on which is actually the best song of all time (right now it's a 4 way tie in my opinion); Eric B. and Rakim "Paid in Full", Steelers Wheel "Stuck in the Middle With You", The Faces "Ooh La La", and Tenor Saw "Ring the Alarm." I also tend to intellectualize music, so I will be more than happy to discuss the 'death of the album' or the time periods where punk rock and reggae crossed paths (or any other interesting historical events in music). I have a fond place in my heart for Bounce music and Big Freedia. Go ahead, ask me what it is (and if you already know what it is you are awesome).

I like reading but I don't do nearly enough of it. I like historical non-fiction, but it has to be entertaining and not like reading a dry textbook. Also, with the help of a friend I have rediscovered my love for comic books (now in grown up, "graphic novel" form). I am always taking suggestions for new things to read.

I am very adventurous when it comes to food and will try anything once. My favorites are Carribean, South and East Asian, and Southern/Cajun. I have a love for cooking, even though I don't get to do it as often as I would like. Personally, I don't have a strict diet, but I do try to eat as healthy as possible focusing on fresh fruits and veggies. Many of my friends are vegetarian or some iteration of it and have tried to convert me, but I don't know if I could fully commit to the lifestyle.

I like to say I hate tv, but there's no way I can get away from it. At times I Netflix binge, but not often. However I'm always open to new suggestions for things to watch.

I'm not that much of a movie person (not that I hate them, I just don't get out to them very much), but I do have a soft spot in my heart for crappy horror movies, mostly zombie or vampire.
Six things I could never do without
1. Good music/music to shake it to
2. Good AND interesting people
3. being able to cook a good meal at least once a week
4. the resident evil trilogy/crappy zombie movies
5. intellectual discussions/your mom jokes
6. George Carlin and/or Lee Perry records
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm going to eat. Finding a travel coffee mug that actually works.
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating burritos.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love to dance, and I do it with wild abandon. If I hear a beat I will start shaking it. I might even catch the wall if I'm drunk enough (if you know what that is you get extra cool points).
You should message me if
You do not hate fun.
