My self-summary
I'm Maria. Everybody pretty much calls me some variation of that like Marie, Mary, Mar, Mari...I guess I don't look like a Maria.

I am often described by my friends as a fine mix between level and rational but wild and fun...I like to keep it classy, too. My humor is super sarcastic..I struggle with those who don't get it...I love to smile and laugh and throw in a little intelligent conversation and I'm all about it. I use the words super and awesome too much.

I've been on some terrible, traumatic first dates, so I think I can handle anything.

I love the outdoors and riding my bike. I am very active, I like extreme sporting events like the Tough Mudder. When I can, I try to travel. I'm all about self-improvement, I enjoy putting myself in new situations which force me to grow, like trying things I've never tried, listening to NPR, listening to Fox even if i disagree, both sides of a good argument.

That's not all, but I can't stand "About Me" sections, so you'll have to ask me if you're really curious.
What I’m doing with my life
I start law school next year. Right now Im a Sr. Paralegal for a corporate immigration law firm. I love my job and my coworkers. It's a very unique office.
I’m really good at
Listening. I don't know how many people have divulged entire life-long stories to me. It's really kinda amazing how it happens. It is partly to blame for some terrible dates though. Im also amazing at immigration petitions, haha. Whatcha know about that. Ya... That's what I thought... You're probly good with that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have one of those really common names which everyone and their mom wrote a song about, so within the first ten minutes, someone will usually confess their favorite "Maria" song as I smile and nod. It doesn't help that I share a first name with two sisters, so yeah... That's usually a big conversation starter.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love a lot of books, but I can always re-read The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Also, I love Julia Alvarez and How the Garcia Sisters Lost Their Accent. Movies, blah, I like some but can't list them off. I am a fan of Spanish cinema and documentaries and such.

I don't really watch TV, although I went through some compulsive netflixing and megavideo days of Madmen, Dexter, True Blood, Damages, 24 and Prison Break...theyre not so bad.

And I absolutely, positively cannot tolerate reality-television. I think it is a perversion of entertainment and a ridiculous waste of time.

I love electronic music, dubstep, Latin music, reggae and rock favorites. I am critical of new music, like rap, because it just comes and goes.

I love exotic food, like sashimi, Korean food, Thai curry, Indian curry, Mumbai sweets, Venezuelan and Cuban food, moonshines from around the world, king crab, paella, and the list literally goes on and on.
Six things I could never do without
Gym membership
Ocean and mountains (I realize that makes 7)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the world, politics, how lucky I am to be an American, future projects, places and travels I want to make, how my friends and family are doing, my future and if I'm happy
On a typical Friday night I am
usually out with friends for dinner and drinks, but it depends on what the week was like. Sometimes I just want to do something chill and not crazy, so I am 100% comfortable staying in on a Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I still make my bed every morning and I am like a magnet for old-men. Don't ask me why, but my friends just recently had to have an intervention with me.
