My self-summary

I feel like there's no cool way to begin these things, so here goes.

I try to live life with a 'live and let live' attitude - it's easier some days than others. I'm looking for someone I can be my occasionally goofy self around, but also someone who enjoys talking about the deeper things in life. I'm looking for a true partner, basically someone to share my life with, as cliche as that is.

I love food, wine and beer, travel, reading, theatre, going to concerts, and pride myself on knowing a little bit about everything. It's a dream of mine to be on Jeopardy one day.

I try to bring creativity into my life in all things. I have a degree in English lit and theatre. I did a semester in London UK and I'm pretty sure I left a big chunk of my heart there.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently doing communications for an arts organization and really enjoy the people and the industry. I'm a constant learner though, and try to keep myself open to new opportunities and industries.

I have a wine blog I try to update regularly and work on my writing when time and money allow.
I’m really good at
- Cooking
- Choosing a good wine or beer
- Sensing the mood in the room
- Making new friends
- Summing up complicated emotions and situations
- Procrastinating
The first things people usually notice about me
People usually perk up when they realize I have the tendency to talk with the speed of a Gilmore Girl and can change topics almost as quickly when my mind is really going.

Other than that I think my smile, my knowledge about wine and my passion for social equity probably make people take a second look a me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is tough for me, as I'm generally anti-favourite. Here's a random and not-so-exhaustive sampling:

BOOKS: Wicked, The Time Traveler's Wife, The Alchemist, Leaves of Grass, Pride and Prejudice, the Harry Potter series, A Great and Terrible Beauty trilogy, Carry On

MOVIES: About a Boy, Almost Famous, Love Actually, Imagine Me & You, Back to the Future, Easy A, Out of Africa

TV: Downton Abbey, the Mindy Project, Masterchef, Jeopardy, The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, The Good Wife, House Hunters International

MUSIC: Imogen Heap, Robyn, Postal Service/Deathcab for Cutie, Feist, Sara Bareilles, Brandi Carlile, Ella Fitzgerald, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Mraz...

FOOD: avocados, olives, cheese, my mom's gumbo, lamb, pasta bolognese, burritos, french food in general, pretty much anything with a good bottle of wine...
The six things I could never do without
- my family and friends
- good food, good wine, good beer
- interesting stories
- yoga pants and hoodies
- the internet
- love love love
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future/the future, my friends, what to wear, whether I'm truly a city person, how I can foster better inclusion in every community I'm in, what to make for dinner, how to spend my weekend, whether or not I should get a pet, sexuality and gender, how to become a better writer...
On a typical Friday night I am
These days the most I have energy for on a Friday night is dinner and some relaxation time. Netflix and ordering in is a good standby, as is hitting up my local pub.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've probably tried every craft beer in the lcbo right now. Gotta love local brews!
You should message me if
- anything I said above piqued your interest
- you take life (and this website) with a grain of salt
- you're a lighthearted person who's interested in life

I hate to negative, but please don't message me if you're currently in a couple. that's just not what I'm looking for on this site. sorry, friends.
