My self-summary
I was the weird fat kid in high school who was afraid of girls. Nowadays... not-so-fat, only moderately weird, but still maybe kinda sorta shy around girls if you smile at me in just the right way.

I see all these profiles of people saying "I'm super ambitious, work hard to play harder, traveled to 17 countries, attaining my goals and dreams in my highly rewarding and simultaneously challenging career, and I totally did my squats today and washed it down with a protein infused kelp salad and organic soy smoothie"... and meanwhile I'm just sitting here thinking I'd like to spend my evening cooking a modest yet colourful dinner with somebody while complaining about who forgot to buy the milk this time, then cuddling up on the couch to watch an episode of Game of Thrones or Extreme Home Makeovers or whatever, followed by some indecent raucous snuggling.
What I’m doing with my life
Hanging on for dear life on this crazy deathtrap called life. I mean geez, give or take another 50-60 years and it's totally gonna get ya.

Posting selfies and food pics to Instagram, getting into arguments on Tumblr, composing cutesy one-liners for Twitter, and fiendishly clamouring for likes on Facebook. Oh wait, I don't have any of those. I am a social media luddite.

I did try to say YOLO once, but apparently it is *not* a type of yogurt... Huh, live and learn.
I’m really good at
Math. I blame the glasses.

Reading. I blame the glasses.

Caramelizing onions. I blame the... oh wait
The first things people usually notice about me
That I look way younger than I actually am.

My voice. A face for radio they tell me.

My awesome ninja powers... which is to say they don't notice me at all until it's too late. Then blam! Face full of Asian.

(ooookay, that sounded way dirtier than it should have been)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: I have my complete Calvin & Hobbes collection sitting next to my textbooks on thermodynamics and structural analysis. The next bookshelf contains several stacks of world mythology, my D&D collection, and an encyclopedia set from the 90's that I don't use but a bookshelf just doesn't look complete without it.

movies: I tend to catch more live theatre than I do the movies, but on the rare occasion I do go it tends to be something in the wheelhouse of Pixar/Dreamworks/Marvel

music: a little bit of everything really... classical, jazz & big band, jukebox, chillout/lo-fi, folk, acoustic, old R&B, classic rock, even a tiny bit of country sneaks in sometimes

food: I grew up in the north end, so am just as happy with perogies as I am with fried rice. I'm a total foodie though, and am a fairly adventurous eater and enjoy trying out new restaurants around town. No fast food though, and I don't drink. I try to be fairly health conscious, with the occasional liberties of course.
Six things I could never do without
- sunshine & lollipops & rainbows & everything that's wonderful
- my piano (built in 1905!)
- the internet (wikipedia has replaced my higher brain functions, and I'm pretty sure youtube has replace the lower ones)
- music and dancing
- books
- dental floss
I spend a lot of time thinking about
body kinetics
did I leave the stove on?
why does my washing machine leave yucky grey streaks on my clothes?
sciency stuff
the next thing I want to build
why I can't get my garden tomatoes to grow
could I tear down some walls to make my living room more open concept?
On a typical Friday night I am
swing dancing
building or modifying something
playing a vengeful game of Settlers of Catan
at the symphony or theatre
fixing the plumbing
chasing dragonflies (or hiding from mosquitoes)
did I mention eating?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My most sobering "I'm an adult" moment came when I was at Costco and got genuinely excited because the toilet bowl cleaner was on sale.
(It came in a 4-pack; I gave two to mom and dad)
You should message me if
you can tell me why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
you like to keep fit and have fun (goooo Body Break!)
you know what "roll for initiative" means
you know the difference between Watership and Waterdeep

I'm not looking for someone to keep up with me and my wacky antics. That's not how it works. I'm looking for someone who has a life of their own but is willing to take some time and explore the middle ground, then see where it goes from there.

Or maybe you think I'm interesting and would just like to chat. That's cool too.
The two of us
