My self-summary
I am currently a graduate student in the Astronomy Department at the University of Washington in Seattle, where I study theoretical/computational astrophysics. I'm originally from the Chicago area, where I lived until I came to Seattle. If the fact that I'm studying astrophysics didn't tip you off, I'm kind of a nerd. I enjoy science (particularly physics and astronomy) as well as reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, playing games (board games, videogames, card games, etc), and reading comic books. Most of all, I enjoy having interesting conversations with interesting people. I love talking about things like religion, philosophy, science, movies, books, and pretty much anything else. Basically, I just really like being around people that have cool ideas, strong opinions, and fun personalities.

I find that most people on this website go out of their way to sound adventurous. Honestly, I'm not really like that. While I would be interested in exploring my horizons in terms of activities/seeing more of Seattle, sometimes (maybe most of the time) I prefer to just chill out with people at a bar or someone's place, maybe watch a movie or play some boardgames or just have interesting conversations. I don't know... maybe that sounds boring, but I'm looking for someone who feels the same way; someone open to new things, but doesn't need to be going out every Friday.

Above all else, I'm looking for someone who challenges me intellectually and who has a rich personality; someone I can joke and have fun with and, most of all, feel comfortable with. Oh yeah, and preferably someone to "nerd out" with occasionally as well.

I'm funny, easy to talk to, a good listener, caring, loyal, and I think I'm a fairly interesting person to be around (even if physics and math isn't your thing).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an astronomy graduate student at the University of Washington. My interests are in theoretical/computational astrophysics and I hope to continue with a career in academia teaching and researching astrophysics.
I’m really good at
science, math, and thinking about stuff

I'm really good at talking and listening to people. I'm good at giving advice, though I rarely take my own because I'm dumb like that.

I'm good at being passionate and following through
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure.... probably that I'm very short (5'3''). If I'm talking to them, they probably also notice that I'm very opinionated about a lot of things and that, sometimes, I like to argue just for the sake of arguing. It's fun.

The six things I could never do without
My brain, my friends, my family, my computer, the internet, music (in order of importance)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A whole lot of things. I think about new things everyday. I think of something new every time I talk to someone who has a cool idea that I've never thought about before, and every time I learn or experience something new.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually hanging out with friends doing happy hour. If not, I'm probably at home reading or watching netflix. Occasionally I will be working, which, while it is a drag, is sometimes necessary.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was 5 years old, I wanted to be Spider-Man when I grew up. I still think it would be cool, but it seems a bit unrealistic now
You should message me if
you like having interesting conversations about random things

If you could see yourself staying up late discussing the mechanisms and implications of time travel in Donnie Darko.

If the idea of an infinite, expanding universe keeps you up at night thinking about the meaning of life

Note: I'm mostly here to find people to date, but I'm open to platonic relationships as well. In fact, I think good relationships tend to start out as friendships anyway.
