My self-summary
I tend to be a fairly upbeat and optimistic person, I try to look on the bright side of everything. All sides of an issue deserve due consideration before I feel comfortable forming an opinion. Maintaining a lightness of heart and low stress level while working hard and staying passionate about what you do has always been a successful combination in my experience. One should love what they do and who they are, but never let that dampen one’s ambition or personal development. Over the last few years I've grown more knowledgeable and confident in who I am and the path that I am on.

Some of my general interests include: Films (big movie buff), adventure/sci-fi novels, tennis, cooking new recipes, piano and chamber music, traveling, kayaking, swimming, podcasts, Pop culture conventions, roller coasters, live shows, and more!

What am I looking for? Shared interests are important, but I put more stock in shared values, philosophies, and temperaments. Thoughtfulness, humor, empathy, honesty/genuineness, ambition/passion, curiosity, adventurousness, optimism, etc. – complimenting each other on these types of things is the most exciting part of getting to know someone! It certainly doesn't hurt to be able to geek out over a show/movie/book/game together though, of course :)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a R&D Mechanical Engineer at a water technologies company. After graduating, I wanted to find a job that I could be proud of rather than falling back on something easier or in an industry I thought was more morally ambiguous (i.e. oil & gas, defense - no offense!). The tech is far more complex and interesting than I would have thought. Probably going to take grad classes as soon as it makes financial sense to do so.

I love traveling. I'm always looking forward to the next adventure! I've been to France, England, Australia, Scandinavia, Italy, and more. I still have many places I'd like to explore!

I run and do weight training a few times a week, which is a habit I've been making a priority over that last few months. I've never felt better and have no intention of slowing down.
I’m really good at
- Puzzles. Especially Rubik’s cube-esque types of things. (and thus, Engineering was a huge surprise as a career choice.)
- Movie suggestions. Give me a genre or examples of films you like, and I can probably think of some more you’d love.
- Super Monkey Ball 2 on the Gamecube. Jealous?
- Apparently, writing a paragraph when a sentence will do, upon reflecting on this profile.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a bit shy and awkward but cordial when first meeting someone. My dad is very charming and can talk to anyone, so I do my best to emulate what there is of him in me.

Anything! Recently, I've been sticking to paleo/lower carb foods for added health benefits, which has forced me to cook a lot more and I love it!

I exercise my creativity when I can, but am not particularly talented in any one art form, I admit. However, I do have the fortune of appreciating and enjoying most all art forms.
The six things I could never do without
1.) Family and friends (unsurprising, but true)
2.) My phone (unfortunate, but true)
3.) Thick warm socks straight from the dryer
4.) Traveling
5.) Stories, in all their forms
6.) A tennis court
7.) Breaking the rules
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to do this weekend. What I’d wish for if I found a magic lamp. What would happen if I could jump into any movie, book, or show I wanted. What next steps I have to take in pursuit of my ideal career path. Why are my shoelaces on fire!?
On a typical Friday night I am
Likely hanging out with my friends, either at an event, bar, or at home catching up on shows/movies. I try not to think of Friday nights as typical, they’re the best time of the week!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Umm... I strongly dislike The Big Bang Theory?
